I had a player want to play a soulknife once.

I told him okay. Add +1 LA to the character. Now pick a real class.

...I'm pretty sure I gimped him even with that, but I was trying to do him a kindness.

Yeah, if someone forced me to run Schoolgirls and Sorcery with d20, I would just say that adults are level 5 or so. Hell, I might make adults "epic" if I wanted a full 20 level game. Of course, it occurs to me that this gives us high schoolers with the ability to shape mountains... which ...

So this is an interesting look at things, since it shows just how fast 5e spiked relative to Pathfinder. Then again, Pathfinder's slow start is to be expected since it isn't fucking Dungeons and Dragons. Meanwhile this other chart shows D&D at its height compared to Pathfinder, and you can see h...

This is a load of horseshit. MMO players are constantly whining that this or that is an "exploit." People doing legal and effective things is the cause of about 400% of all dramabombs in the MMO forumosphere. This is exactly the sort of bullshit that comes from somebody who doesn't play. ...

I dunno: when some exploits were found for killing certain Epic Level Bosses in Neverwinter, some players went around teaching others and saying "This is how we do it." But the methods of doing so were quickly patched out... because a whole bunch of players whined that it was a thing you ...

SubversionArts wrote:Add "Toon" to that list.
If by "add" toon you mean "replace the entire list with toon" I might agree.

But then again, the game "Toon" does exist, and telling the people who play it that they aren't allowed to play RPGs ever again seems a bit extreme.

I tend to think there should be explicit tier breaks. When you cross the threshold into a new tier, you gain access to a new set of stuff you can do, and stuff from the previous tier becomes somewhat easier for you. But you advance the actual skill bonus completely independently of those tiers. Basi...

Regarding the lazy-lord playstyle, 3e spells Snakes Swiftness and Mass Snakes Swiftness are ones I generally enjoy. They're low level and cheaply wandable, letting you convert actions you don't have anything better to do into extra attacks for allies. Yes, casters typically have something better to ...

Force Lightning [DARK SIDE TAGGED!] - Has really short range, gee. Might as well walk over and hit them with a lightsaber. Use the force is now your attack bonus vs reflex, and on hit you deal 8d6 damage and a condition step. On a miss it's just half damage. This isn't a AoE or blast so it ignores ...

I enjoy playing Dumb Melee Fighters. Not even just stuff like Casters that can melee or ToB style characters. But I'll occasionally roll up a straight 3.5 barbarian or fighter just to spend a few sessions beating on stuff mindlessly.

For what it's worth, in my games I made it so Weapon Focus can be used to add 1 point worth of weapon special properties* to your chosen weapon, and you can change what that point is with a move action. Greater Weapon Focus adds a second point, and lets you swap as a swift action. It actually works ...
