It's not really possible to dunk on AC0 any harder than he dunks on himself, so I have a question: why do people of, let's just say a nerdly persuasion gravitate so hard towards Libertarianism? My impression is that it's a fantasy that lets them pretend that they'd be more satisfied with their live...

Does the the magic of the potion have to reside in the liquid, or could you move the magic to the container? If you had a potion of healing, it might be that you keep and reuse the vial each day as opposed to treating it like a soda can. Maybe it has a daily limit, maybe you just have to refill it w...

How did 'low is good' dominate grognard thought anyway? Is it just because Call of Cthulhu did it? People latched onto a bad Chainmail chart? What? I don't think this is at all the actual reason, but I vaguely remember some GM at a con game telling me (back in the early 90s) that it was so people c...

I haven't pledged yet. I like the Fire Giant as well; and the Dungeon Dwellers expansion and townsfolk add on seem like fairly good deals as well, especially if you're going to build a diorama or something. I can't figure out who thought sticking the child heroes or spell effects in the core set was...

I thought the Nosferatu spymaster thing was partially supposed to be from extensive use of Animalism to have eyes and ears everywhere, rather than personally overhearing every illicit conversation. You'd send out your army of rats, pigeons, squirrels, or whatever and they'd somehow bring back useful...

So I roll up to the gaming table and I say 'I'm a carp clan samurai' and my gaming buddy rolls up and says 'I'm a fox clan samurai'. What does the clan association tell anyone at the table? What if we were both Ninjas instead? I'm already imagining two different characters, and I have no idea what ...

Being able to put things into an extra-dimensional space is pretty handy, especially if you can carry it around with you. There are several spells that are related, but there's a story issue - if you can use Secret Chest to safely stow goods somewhere, then teleport to the destination, then pull th...

I remember it caps at -10 AC Not really. -10 is the AC you get with the best armor (+5 full plate) and the best shield (+5 shield). Then you can subtract the Dex AC bonus, some item bonus like a ring of protection, etc, for a total AC far below -10. We probably played it wrong, but we used the -10 ...

Isn't the 1:10000 ratio supposed to be the baseline? Obviously, people are going to snowflake things up for their Knoxville or Billings local game and have however many creatures they feel are necessary. But when/if people write material for the setting at large, 1:10k is the assumed starting point....

If your numbers require the vampires to hop in a car, drive for an hour, do their work, then drive another hour home, sure, that's gonna seem familiar to a lot of people who work for a living. Vampire: the Commute isn't going to be the game you want to play. A vampire in Pigeon Forge could just mov...

The problem with 27 vampires in Santa Cruz is that if the PCs show up, they are 1/5 of the total. If they end up killing half of them, and then need new characters, there isn't really a pool to draw from. Having ~100 vampires in Santa Cruz is going to work out better. What is wrong with the PCs dec...

Just doing some quick napkin-work: 610000 is listed as 1 in every 4 deaths in the US. So total deaths per year in the US is ~2.4million (just checked, latest data from 2014 is ~2.6million). Divided by the 32k supernaturals mentioned above gives something like a possible ~100 deaths supernatural/yea...

I know this question is contrary to the stated thread goal, but should a space game cater to the same old tropes about fighter jocks and dogfights that we're used to? Especially if you're trying to be plausible with your science in zipping around the stars? Wouldn't it be more interesting to require...

Soo... In one of those pairs, I got feelings not only for the girl, but also the guy (I didn't realize/know I was bisexual before). He isn't interested in pursuing anything sexual, but his roommate is. The roommate is cute, adorably good-natured and basically what I look for in partners. However, h...
