Can't speak for this example, but apparently there's a thing were you call your weremonsters "skinwalkers" to sound all exotic, despite skinwalkers in actual Native American tradition not really being at all like the way most people depict weremonsters. Same with Wendigos. Weremonsters in...

My opinion is that fear of cultural appropriation is in almost all instances balanced by fear of cultural erasure. There's definitely ways you can shit on first nations people (like so many ways), but pretending that you weren't inspired by Navajo mythology when making a monster doesn't seem obvious...

So it sounds like a lot of babies went out with a lot of bathwater and the fact that nobody fixed legacy issues with legacy mundane classes creates issues now that the structure of treasure distribution has been radically altered. A potential fix might just be 'dump treasure all over your players a...

The Tories have already done the "don't admit how bad it is" thing for over two days with Boris' illness. It was obvious based on actions that they took that Johnson had Coronavirus on a Wednesday , but they didn't actually admit that he had it until the Friday . Also even this week when h...

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-52164358 what the fuck is wrong with people? So the conspiracy goes that the first major city that got a 5G rollout on its mobile network was Wuhan. I think that might even be true, especially if you narrowly enough define 'major' (Wuhan has ten million people in...

Well isn't this why 5th edition tried to move to 'Suck dick to get item'? And then had to immediately backpedal because enough of the monster manual pretty much ignores you if you don't have a magic sword that they had to make an entire system for auctioning items in XGtE? The key is that 3rd editi...

I've seen many a group of people in DnD games look at me like I was crazy when I said "yeh, let's not sell that item and instead put it on the character who can get the most out of it." Usually, they think it's some kind of ruse to funnel the items to myself, but after a few sessions they...

Everything that DSM says plus a very large number of the dead aren't being counted because no one bothered to test them before they died. Deaths from "Pneumonia" and "ARDS" are suspiciously high in untested people, and then you got people dying at home to be discovered later like...

If the system has any value to people in the future, I hope that it’s to propagate the idea that magic *should* be more like open ended engineering and less like a Vancian spell slinger. I just don’t think that is feasible to achieve in a satisfying way in Dungeons and Dragons. Every existing editi...

I feel I should point out that Hate doesn't actually work much like Hope. Enemies get their Attribute Level as a bonus to all Favored rolls without spending anything. Hate is spent only through their special abilities. Your basic orc has no special abilities that cost Hate, and can't burst effectiv...

Any changes? Cause that was my interpretation as well, and it should work okay I mean, the damage from car crashes is so completely insane that all combat should be replaced by remote controlling cheap used cars and stolen cars and smashing them into things. The numbers are totally bonkers. -Userna...

I think the reason the corps don't pop is that for the most part they are widget based rather than personality based. Like, for a proper memorable evil megacorporation like Wyland-Yutani or Aztechnology what they actually make isn't really the point. They make "lots of stuff." The Cyberpun...

The vehicle rules in SR4A make no sense and are written by people who don't know what they are talking about and don't care. What it means is that the two numbers of acceleration is how much you can change speed up or down if you do and do not taking the handling penalty for "running" and ...

So, you can't encircle enemies to surround them or get past their HtH people and attack their support people? Pass. There are functionally only two positions: close combat and not. There is some obfuscation of letting you pick three close combat stances, but functionally it's just that player chara...

Not very well. (drum beats, laugh track)

Your position in combat is either in close combat or rearward and able to use missile weapons. So... the combat positioning system of Might & Magic 2.
