Oh, okay. Well in that case even then it's not quite correct. They are talking about races that are new to DnD in general, and both the Minotaur and Centaur have been in past editions. The Centaur was playable in BD&D, AD&D, and 3e, while the Minotaur was playable in AD&D and 3e. None of...

Pretty sure that is 5e, not 4e, which is what this thread is dealing with?

From what I can tell, Noonan's vision failed because even by aping MMO's they couldn't figure out how they worked well enough to make the roles necessary ones like how actual MMO's do it. Actually on the worst designer thing, could anyone give me a quick rundown of the main designers and how good/ba...

The fact that it's a system that has been adapted for so many genre's without issue point more to PBTA having that problem than not. Each individual sub-game may flesh it out to a degree, but the base itself has to suitably generic for it to have been used so many time for different genres. Interes...

I'll throw out as far as the god characterization thing, that even the Greeks didn't have consistent characterizations, especially between the Mycenaean and Hellenic periods. Dionysus is probably the best example, having started out as a dark god known for driving people insane and associated with d...

Depends on your definition, modern comics can also tend to have a lot of drama that happens often and sometimes very badly. Just without the excuse of teen angst driving it instead. I'll also second that people might prefer this to FATE because FATE can feel bland and like it doesn't have an identit...

Considering he's made a career of outright harassment of people who don't like his work, is it really any surprise that this is happening? This is the guy who put his own name up as a google alert to the point everyone here just started calling him Shitmuffin.

Don't really care either way, as my experience with the character is some of Kingmaker and occasionally mocking her build as an Iconic Character. I'm more interested in how PF2E ends up performing because if it does well, then most of the third party support will likely jump with and the actual part...

2e looks like it’s going to be DOA at this point. Word of mouth is minimal, the communities I frequent have exactly one ardent 2e defender, and the only place I’ve seen receive it positively is their own forums. Unless Paizo gets a lot of marketing done before the August release day, there probably ...

Path of Exile's recent patch added a turn-based combat mode to the game. Going to try it out later, but apparently it takes a lot from Divinity Original Sin 2.

SR ruleset is no worse than any modern ruleset really, and this is from someone who started playing RPG's four years ago. I certainly get more mileage out of it than I do FATE or GURPS. In a more general Shadowrun sense, I was talking to an acquaintance and apparently the latest matrix book has reve...

On the setting I have been trying to develop a magic system for, the first main concept is that magic happens because the planet was host to a battle between various gods who operated on a galactic scale in the middle of a war. They ended up mostly killing each other, and their death permanently cha...

Well, those questions need to be a bit more spesific to be answerable because the differences between resource management mechanics are rarely, if ever as simple as "good" vs. "bad". Magic points could be best, spell slots could be, or some third system could be better than eith...

Spell Points vs Vancian vs alternatives. What is the best?

Decided to start this up after reading through the Psionics 4e preview thread, or more accurately as it should have been called, Psionic Points vs Vancian Spellcasting, which is better? In it, the main argument against psionic power points was that it's method of scaling gave incentive to us novas a...

Your thread on different playtest methods, along with using the Rogue Flask against some different CR encounters is still up. Unfortunately Buhlman is fairly reasonably in it, so it’s provided poor evidence for trying to convince others of Paizos playtest problems, since they want direct sources.

Does anyone have links about how much the first pathfinder playtest was trying its best not to be an actual playtest? I’ve been tryin to find evidence of what Frank and others have said about it but have been unable to find anything.

I’m uncertain on it, the game certainly have the potential to be but for paradox themselves the studios response seems mixed. On my two cents, while the WW treatment of the author of that piece is bad, same with continued association with Zak S and Rein*Hagen. Their decision to fully back them on non-company views when they are contractors seems just weird for a company to do with two individuals who sound like they are di...

I agree. I watched it again and realized as pretty as the movie was I kind of hate it and every character in it, except for that one old First Order captain on the dreadnought who seemed to be aware he was in a shitty movie. Pretty much. Watching him complain about his own side's incompetence was p...

I'd argue that book 1 of Twilight was when it went to the dumpster fire, but that might be the inner horror fan being really pissed off about their treatment of vampire's. I tried reading it, and around halfway through couldn't take any of the character's anymore. The movies are better because they...

Word. I was at least a couple balls deep into sword of truth series before I realized it was a basketful of STDs. That was a terrible waste of my time and metaphorical cock.
