Can't we just say that SuckCurrency buys goods and SuperCurrency buys magic? Dick Cheney is worth between $30M and $100M. He has infinite of whatever SuckCurrency can buy. He cannot negotiate with Bill Gates ($40B) in any meaningful way with SuckCurrency. If they sit at a negotiating table, they neg...

Okay, given the the LA situation is completely fubarred, you probably have a couple of options: Option 1 - pure metagaming bullshit - not recommended - Pick the highest LA thing you possibly can and run the campaign over with a truck. Bonus points if you ARE a truck: Selection - Antropomorphic Afric...

In our game things like ACs are learned quickly enough, as are approximate attack/damage, but saves are usually left as a question. That being said, NOT knowing about a monster is usually quite fun (provided it isn't something like "only vulnerable to cold damage). However, our compromise was t...

Yea, after looking at the stats we were probably fighting a slightly nerfed version. The DM made a comment of "what?! it doesn't have Improved Grab as a clawed creature?!". 94 hp seems about what we did (total may have been 105 or 89, but not 130). 9 damage to the cleric is estimated (I ca...

Riddles (you have all of the information you are going to get) are lame, puzzles (you have collected the Z journal fragments and piece them into something that hopefully isn't a riddle) are okay, mysteries (you have X evidence and bad things that give +Y evidence may continue to happen until you sto...

Can it be Immune to Fire in the very least?

Looking up the monster, we apparently fought the CR 8 can-auto-kill-you-in-one-hit-and-gets-2-attacks crab. The DM must have rolled a few 2s (or fudged) on the to-hit rolls in order for me to stand there a few rounds and not get offed. The DM specifically said that it shot a spine (round 1, it didn'...

I agree with the level 3 ability. Precedent: The Cleric, Druid, Wizard, and Sorcerer, Beguiler, Elementalist, and Summoner 3rd level class features. Let's face it, 3rd level is about 2nd level spells. Warmage doesn't get Advanced Learning (Elementalist, Summoner), or nothing (Cleric, Wizard, Druid, ...

I was just throwing down on paper the concept from Stephen King, retooled for D&D. You are playing in Tome, so you can't really go wrong with any particular feat. Have him 'make' the character in the sense that he will select the class and assign stats and give equipment, and you can give him a ...

Why not just ask him what he wants to play, and then making it for him. Usually you can start with a concept like: Boastful Gunslinger. Fastest shooter in the West. Once killed a man just for looking at him. Travels with a party through inability to negotiate fairly (or intimidate) for rewards, lack...

Details: 3 level 4 characters burn nearly 100% of resources. Kill Carcass Crab in Eberron. Grisly details: Round 1: Carcass crab spots cleric (myself) encroaching upon domain (a pile of bodies, stocked with magic, including at least 1 sentient item). Light of X spell cast in preparation (lasts 40 mi...

I don't think the market can support the current release schedule, even if they had 100% of it. It feels like an author that writes more than 1 book/month, and a movie producer that releases 2 movies/week. To the vast majority of audiences, that is just too much material.

Yea, their release schedule is completely unsustainable.

However, if they start strip-mining Magic: The Gathering, there should be enough to print until 2012.

I think that the 1 book, 1-2 campaign (levels 1-30) every 3 months release schedule would generally make everyone happy.

Yea, on a cursory glance of higher level Divination spells, I don't see anything wrong with giving a free Persistant as a 9th level ability.
