Biden promised two things: no tax increases on anyone making less than $400k and increased corporate income taxes. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has tax increases on the poor scheduled to happen once Biden takes office (technically cuts expiring, but call a spade a spade)and a permanent tax break for co...

I'm pretty sure that Biden would like to repeal the tax cuts, if only for realpolitik reasons not not pissing off voters.

Biden is going to have a hell of a time in his first year in office, trying to get a meaningful Covid-19 response together, figuring out how to rescind the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (AKA: Republican ratfuckery which cuts taxes during Trump's term but has baked in tax spikes for the poor once Biden ...

I'm not a lawyer, but I CAN produce the highlights: Back in March of 2019, Weis & Hickman convinced Wizards to let them write another Dragonlance trilogy and have it published through Penguin Random House. Wizards would get a cut of the profits and W&H would get both royalties and an advance...

I was the one to suggest that, yes, but the description isn't quite how it works. The actual idea was you'd have a periodically rising level of Horror which is resisted by Resolve. At first, Horror grants a bonus to your rolls, as the severity of the situation galvanizes characters to take action, b...

Somebody sure has strong opinions on not posting here for a guy who still posts here. Not even just in this thread, but in the actual game design bits of the forum. You're either too cool to post here, or you're not. Either stop shitting, or get back in the pot.

You want output [highest 1 of Xd(2d6)] where X is the number of times you roll 2d6 and keep best. It goes 7.00; 8.37; 9.06; 9,49; 9.80; 10.04, putting +2 at two rerolls and +3 at five rerolls. You don't get to +4 before AnyDice tells you to fuck off, which happens at 12 rerolls, for an average of 10...

So... Is Planar Binding any less broken in 5e than it is in 3.5, assuming you can get the spell to work? 5e monsters basically never do anything cool beyond 'be a big sack of hit points and attacks', so the fact that you can specifically get elementals or demons working for you instead of geased og...

There's rules in the DMG for summoning stuff without the use of spells, but at that point you don't need planar binding because those same rules just let you flat out command the thing with its True Name/Magic Idol. Overall 5e is not very well thought out or playtested.

Have you looked at Lancer yet? It's similar in design to *World, but with most of the things that make *World games bad (terrible move design, quantum bears, only really having one difficulty level) fixed.

I'd like to zoom in on just one part of this whole feature wishlist: Gear: Because the challenges are not tailored to the players, they may find that they need specific magic items to get the job done. I think that PL can safely be ignored here. He's just doing his 'nothing that I didn't have a hand in creating can possibly be good' song and dance from half a decade ago in response to what amounts to some extended musings on various metrics by which a TTRPG adventure modules could be judged, how g...

Mechanically punishing people for not following some code is dumb. Having social in game pressure to follow a code is fun. Why do designers keep doing the first one. Exactly. Social expectations should be the Courtier's version of the Rogue's "flanked, flat-footed or denied Dex to AC" and...

The term 'alpha male' is an idiom. It no more endorses a specific model of wolf pack psychology than 'bite the bullet' endorses conducting surgical procedures without anesthetic. Calling someone an 'wannabe alpha male' is saying that they're being a loud asshole who tries to prove their social domin...

Sounds like I should do a Lancer review then, because that's the first new TTRPG in over a decade where I felt like the contents of the book were worth the effort of having read it, let alone the price to get it.
