Thank you, those are all quite good explanations to me. Any thoughts on even more human-focused economies, like for parasitic (which should cover vampires and mindflayers) overlords? I imagine that those might be particulary likely to start the agricultural revolution at some point, because they don...

So the badasses just are completely independent of society when they want to, and position themselves at the top for fun as soon as the muggles are done building said society? That would work, I guess. It has the merit of allowing us to apply real historical development cycles up until the point whe...

That's not too different from the taxiation system I know, but I admit that assuming just income tax was a bit too easy, even if the observation mentioned probably didn't properly factor in gains either. To prevent further digression, I'll move on to something that itches me about fantasy society: A...

Another pretender question: I've been tinkering around with trying to out-bore the AI of this game (really, this is the most challenging part at the moment) and just noticed how vastly superior Ry'lehs stationary Void Lurker is to a mobile-yet-squishy standard rainbow chassis. Minimally higher path ...

in oWoD telling if someone is a Diablerist requires someone with the right power. Unfortunately, over half the clans have said power. It's pretty trivial to tell if you're a Diablerist. This makes you punishable by death, unless you have a lot of political clout. Funnily enough, at least for one pa...

I'm thinking either some kind of caster/crafter concept, or something with the Night caste Depending on how much Essence you're allowed to start with, Sorcery (what you will do as a caster) is either situationally useful or universally abuseable. Assuming that you're restricted to the Terrestrial C...

some more rules that need clarification: Do androids dream of electric sheep? You either need to add a paragraph saying that unless specified otherwise, everybody has an analogous structure to whatever a discipline calls for--Androids have to defrag, and Freddie Kruger can chase them--Theft of Vita...

As written, Patience doesn't protect against disease, it only makes you immune to poison - so, Bitter Fruit and Tounge of the Serpent. Virtually anything else on your list either isn't stopped by Patience (where did you get the idea that Mind Root is a poison or disease?) or doesn't apply to PCs at ...

actually, I didn't change the range, I just changed the material component from an ounce of fresh, bloody flesh, to any specimen of the target. (though, strictly speaking, as spell likes, they wouldn't normally need material components) But it's not like the nekomata will have trouble with that... ...

I don't think the spell is that problematic. It takes a relatively long time to kill something and offers multiple saves. Plus, a target you care about at level 15 will be able to heal the damage until they eventually make the save - it's not even a proper Save-or-Die, more of a Save-or-Buy-Restorat...

Someone just raised something on the Old Wiki: The Stranger with the Burning Eyes PrC requires spontaneous casting and magic jar . And 9 ranks in K (Religion). Sorcerors don't have Religion as a knowledge. So, what's the deal? Given that Frank seems to prefer more specialized spontaneous casters to...

Should human morality apply to non-human intelligences though? I mean, cultural biases exist that bring definitions of morality onto conflict in the real world. In a world with fantastic creatures, a world with non-human intelligence, should should a narrow, human moral compass apply universally? A...

Re: In Soviet Czechia: Game Reviews You
It's fascinating how culture can be dissonant in different countries even today. I'm not sure if more examples of horrible, horrible early attempts at RPG-making are needed, but they are certainly entertaining ^^ Oh, and also: Die Schwarze Auge I may be missing a reference here, but the correct germ...

minor quibble: I'd use a fantasy type name or something in the ability name. "Eldariel Will Never Let You Die", or something. I can't comment on mechanics, but "Africa" is probably a reference to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (the film, afaik). with quibbling reguards, N...

more over, why is putting sex into the game bad? do these people not like sex? why would someone not like sex? I'm guessing here, but christianity has had an anti-physical, flesh-denying streak from Augustinus onward, so it is really no surprise to find these urges just about anywhere. By the way, ...

Hi there! I've been lurking around this place for quite some time, and am now crawling from under my hiding stone, lured out by the fact that someone wrote spider persons (which I find awesome - both in general and this specific writeup). Which is not to say that I dislike the other races, but I sad...
