[...]Otherwise other popular stuff I've seen, seems to be rehash of older games, or rulesets that weren't particularly good to begin with (Titansgrave using DA-RPG mechanics).[...] Fantasy AGE might be either salvageable or something to steal a bunch of basics from. We just ran through character cr...

I'd say now as well. In spite of all the indie stuff coming out, I don't see anything on shelves at the handful of stores that deign to even carry RPG stuff anymore. There's a scattershot smattering of DnD(5e, 4e, 3e, 2e... depending on the store [ I totally found a complete box set for ADnD BATTLES...

[...]As for the thread topic the easiest thing to do in order to speed things up would probably be decreasing the number of dice rolls.? In my experience I have to admit that rolls probably aren't the biggest speed bump at the tables I'm typically sitting at. My attempt at time sink ranking... Gene...

Post apocalypse is essentially just a descriptor. For instance Eberron is pretty close to a fantasy post -apoc renaissance society. Hell, most fantasy worlds hint at an apocalypse of some sort. Post-apocalyptic just helps describe the setting, but doesn't really insinuate much about the society you ...

I was actually thinking about the same thing today, oddly enough. I was considering just eliminating the hit die and using the 20 for variable damage/effects. Clearly requiring a chart or something... In any case, people LOVE rolling piles of dice. Or at least my players do. So I was thinking instea...

The unofficial rule was that the more ballsy and entertaining you were, the more you could get away with as part of the setup of the stunt. It worked pretty well. Sure there was a slight Wile E Coyote aspect to the game at times, but at least PCs were doing shit. This has been the unofficially offi...

Up above the Beholder's details are a little off because the model was scaled down. Obviously you lose detail as things get smaller.

Frankly, I think the very concept is inherently unimplementable, because people want it to be balanced and also let them do things that make sense. For example, someone might be able to conjure matter out of thin air or otherwise get the ability to get matter of their choice at a target location. T...

how detailed can it get? Got pictures? Keep in mind we just started playing with it this past Friday night. I haven't seen the Beholder up close, but it looks pretty detailed for it's size. The red is a tongue that you attach. [img]data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAgAAAQABAAD/2wBDAAYEBQYFBAYG...

So... I have access to 3D printed stuff
If you guys were interested in single or dual color stuff, I might be able to get something out to you.
A friend just bought a printer and is super excited about using it.
edit: He just printed a (small) mini, took about an hour. Maybe twice the height of a d20.

Yeah are you sure that the preference for 4e wasn't that there was a macro bar- err I mean a set of powers that they had that they could look at and choose from? When we played 3e back in the day and was getting started we had cheat sheet packets that condensed the PHB down to maybe 5 or 6 pages of...

I have run into a lot of people with a complete mental block when it comes to making interesting actions during a play session. A LOT of people seriously never bother using basic actions that aren't feat...

Boiling d20 "possibilities" down to "actions"
A few years ago I built an Op'd character for a player that wanted, essentially, a swashbuckling pirate. I pulled from here, minmax and gitp I think... that's probably irrelevant. In any case, I wrote out the steps in "actions" she wanted to generally use in any battle, in proper sequence....

I slapped together a script for Tampermonkey/Greasemonkey that allows @mentions on the forum. All it does is auto-complete names and bold them. Some people here like to bold names, figured it's relatively useful for replying to people by name. Anyway, just paste this into a new Tampermonkey script t...
