Oooo.
Which build was this one? I've rejected from a LOT of games, but not too many Champions ones.

Re: Mutants and Masterminds d20 2nd Edition Thoughts
No offense, but you've got some semen on your chin.[br][br]Of course GM fiat runs MnM - its the main gate for PC generation. The point was more that MnM is easily abusable and GM fiat is the only real check. It's called "abuse" for a reason. It's about as usable as most minmax builds - its...

Re: Mutants and Masterminds d20 2nd Edition Thoughts
Here's some abuse.[br][br]1) Use Magic. It's an Array with an Alternate Power of anything. So you cook up an Array with Flight, Super-senses (that cancel Obscures, Concealment, that kind of thing), ESP, Mind Reading, basically all the utility stuff a good self-sufficient hero needs. Also include thr...

Re: Deadlands interesting concept that needs some help . . .
You're right that the Blessed are the strongest, at least as far as expectations go. A Huckster can pull out heavy mojo on a good draw, but they're always playing with the Black Joker so it really doesn't matter: they screw themselves far more often than they kick ass.[br][br]By combing through all ...

Re: Beginning Shadowrunner
If you have access to Street Magic, I highly recommend revamping your spell list.[br][br]For example, in SR4 there's little point in expecting to cast spells on all your mates since the -2 dice penalty affects everything you do, which is a massive unmitigated crippling effect in SR4 (not so much in ...

Re: microbiology 101
'Culture' is a noun used to describe the bacteria (a "bacterial culture"). The process you're describing is preparing the culture.[br][br]There are several different methods of culture preparation, depending on what you want to accomplish.[br][br]"Inoculation" is definitely not t...

Re: getting kicked from the gaming group
I play a handful of games on rpol.net in a play-by-post format.[br][br]I enjoy it a lot. The medium encourages roleplay and the volume of available games allows you to choose what sort of game you want to play, rather than being confined to "this is one of the three local gaming groups I've man...

Re: Help with concepts for new campaign
What's with the Monk level in the Druid build? Wouldn't it just be better to advance spellcasting and forego the saves? Is it for Improved Grapple?[br][br]Personally, if I did it I would use the FAQ cheese. I'll be a raptor, then leap on em, claw, claw, bite, rake, etc, then HEADBUTT x3 with my BAB....

Re: Help with concepts for new campaign
Lago, thanks for the rundown. The first is probably better/best, and I'll be spending some time with it.[br][br]RC, you've hit the real issue on the head. It really is a DM vs. PCs sort of problem rather than any objective goal to be achieved. I'm usually the one running games, so I lack a lot of pe...

Help with concepts for new campaign
I'm fishing for ideas for a character in a campaign a friend is starting soon. He's a control freak DM, will basically disallow Craft feats, and only hands out items that he thinkgs we should have - ie, no magic item economy exists. He likes minmaxed characters, but hates twinky shit... any PrCs ava...

Re: Duskblade vs traditional Gish discussion
Why does the Spellsword show up in Gish builds when Havoc Mages seem to do better? Is it the access to reduced ASF that makes it so attractive?

Re: No Hope for the Monk
most player characters should be getting custom PrCs that fit the power level and character flavor that people are looking for in their game [br]Thats a hallmark of most of the games I play in, and I find it makes everyone breath a lot easier. It can be hard to know where to draw the line, minmax-w...

Re: No Hope for the Monk
Murtak --[br][br]Sorry, wasn't being clear. Monks require more minmax than other noncaster fighters - however, at the higher-end of minmax, 'monks' are as effective as other noncaster fighters.[br][br]Said differently, w/o minmax, monks are weak. With minmax, they're as playable as any other noncast...

Re: No Hope for the Monk
I don't think I was arguing that the monk, by itself, was a superior or even on par to the fighting noncaster classes, but rather that its possible to build a minmaxed 'monk' that punches and kicks effectively and contributes to the party.[br][br]I don't know if I mentioned this in this thread, but ...

Re: No Hope for the Monk
The 1st build is really just an exercise. I know its silly, its really an excuse to be able to turn into a Firbolg on its own. The 2nd is more to what has to be done with a monk to make it oomph. And I wouldn't say its jumping through hoops, not any more than most other minmax builds.[br][br]The mon...

Re: No Hope for the Monk
...I also forgot that the Monk levels give free feats, Evasion, and good saves in addition to the Flurry capabilities. But that should be obvious, since without those bonus feats a lot of the later-level tricks are feat-combo-dependent.[br][br]So I'll assume you didn't actually look at the builds.[b...

Re: No Hope for the Monk
Thanking for taking the time to contribute nothing. The v3.5 OA update is clear that Shintao, Henshin Mystic, and Tattooed Monk levels (from OA) stack with Monk levels to determine flurry; ditto with the Shou Disciple. That is why the Monk levels are important -- in order to acquire Greater Flurry.[...
