If your definition of nerd includes Cam Newton, perhaps you should attempt to redefine nerd to something that does not include Cam Newton. No offense to Cam Newton, he's a great guy, he's also not a nerd. No, my definition does not include Cam Newton, but my definition does include the millions of ...

Honestly, the changes necessary to bring the game out of geekdom and into mass popularity is beyond what most geeks would be willing to accept to the game. Yeah, I know, I hate the romantic comedy subplot in Die Hard and the touchscreen minigame in Call of Duty. Oh, wait, you mean we can have diffe...

blahblahblahholocaustzionismblah See? Gx is a worse person than tzor. Black men were still being lynched with impunity in the '60s, and black women were still being raped. Sure, they weren't slaves, but it's asinine to argue that no one alive today has ever experienced dehumanizing racism in the am...

But from the angle of good intentions paving the road to hell... the South, it's citizens, and it's army recruits are actually WORSE than Nazis their intentions were worse, their knowledge of their intentions was superior. And in a similar light modern people like Tzor making excuses for the South ...

FYI I am not Christian. So if I have a fucked up interpretation of your orgy of consumerism and gluttony, blame it on ignorance. FYI my way of playing is so much better than your way of playing because of my [religion/gender/nationality/race/preferred football team/hometown/handedness/eye color/num...

Who says you can't buy anything worthwhile? Nobody does. Here's the whole paragraph. Try again. That doesn't solve the problem at all. If you can't buy anything worthwhile with money, then money is just shiny rocks. If cool items are cheap enough to be worth buying but crap items sell for nothing, ...

Re: Swordslinger's kind of dumb argument: Basically all figments and all enchantments are too complex for a simple script, as are most summoning spells. Why are we arguing about this? The points were that 4e combat doesn't require much in the way of situational variation and that the powers are supe...

This is why treasure consists of items and coins. If someone is getting shafted by the RNG and not getting many picks of the treasure they want, they get greater picks of the money, so they can buy stuff they want later. At least, that's how it's always worked in games I've played. As for items tha...

Of course I refused, because they are intrinsically linked. No they are not. It would be perfectly reasonable to have a game that does not have slot machine loot but does not go to any effort whatsoever to humor people who want signature weapons because both ideas are retarded. I totally agree that...

The DM will just cheat It does not matter if a DM refuses to use random magic items, because no number of DMs refusing to use random treasure actually makes random treasure worse, it just means that there are less games of [insert TTRPG name here] that actually have random treasure. But it moots an...

I think that this is, at least in part, because other people frequently use signature weapons as a counter-argument against random loot. But they're hardly the only counter-argument, or even the best counter-argument. Here, from a dozen pages ago: Frank's and Lago's random drop argument isn't convi...

Actually it does. Random games don't show favoritism and more specifically, items aren't placed for certain characters. Whoever gets the +2 mace of impact the party found is up to the party itself to distribute, not the DM. This is just going to lead to the exact same resentment, just aimed intra-p...
