As an outsider I found the recent US election cycle pretty entertaining.

The surprise twist this morning turned me off on the whole thing though.

I wouldn't get your hopes up.

After the Florida debacle I think the networks are pretty cagey about awarding it until it becomes clear. That was the BBC's take last night anyway on why so many states were reporting "too early to call" for quite a while.

There's certainly no real path forward off this. The Supreme Court will be Republican until 2030-2040+, so there will be no oversight on voting restrictions for a generation. The 2020 census will be heavily Republican-controlled, so Republicans will almost certainly continue to hold the House until...

I always wondered why Lago disappeared, I'm quite surprised to find out it was due to politics. I would have never figured that Lago did a Tzor.

This does sound hilariously appropriate for a Pokemon battle, where your poor Pokemon is supposed to be responding to commands given by a well meaning but distant trainer. The idea that you shout a list of commands and your Pokemon tries to fulfill them to the best of it's abilities whilst being whi...

Now in a world where 3rd and 4th edition DnD already happened, this particular design problem has cleary been solved. You line up all the concepts you want to support at first level. Then you figure out which concept has the lowest expiration date. Then you announce that the level after that is the...

When I was thinking about diverse resource mechanics in D&D the wall I kept hitting was the incompatibility between "some class concepts are low level" and "no multiclassing". If a Swashbuckler is inherently a low level concept but locks you on rails until level 20, how do yo...

Well, from listening to some of the seminars they posted talking about it, the idea for the new version of Delta Green is basically that you can play as Majestic agents, but you still get called Delta Green. The way this works is that Majestic gets shut down, but there are now two Delta Greens. The ...

Delta Green is basically CoC, so for a look at the rules side of things you can read the Frank and AH OSSR , which is also worth reading just because, hey, Frank and AH OSSR. But just for starters, the D100 roll-under base mechanic is terrible. It is more clunky than a D20 (two dice!), adds no appre...

Actually in Calibrons game Vanheim came back after a few days. Regarding no-trade no-diplo, I've played in games with these rules before and they are quite enjoyable. Removing any kind of diplomacy makes the game much less time consuming as you don't need to spend time schmoozing with nearby players...

When I first heard about 3.5e and how it had streamlined and codified things from the bad old 2e days I was pretty excited to see the monster creation system. After the extremely rough and ready 2e rules (basically assign HD and guess the rest) I was looking forward to some guidelines for expected a...

I guess my point is that Hinnom "We pay 125 gold for 9 non-sacred research and we're the most inneficient blood-hunters in the game" gets to go cry in the corner as Arco "We've got some of the best research in the game" suddenly has an army of titans to complement their now self...

Yeah, the introduction of event modding and the ability to create new globals was the original impetus for adding a...

Thanks Avor, glad you like the mod. There is a lot of content as I've been working on it for most of the last year in various iterations. I've tried to stay as close as possible to the feel of the original game, using mythological sources for creatures and spells where possible and such.

I must admit I'm surprised that they went with Summod for an inter-community event like this. If you are trying to get as many people on board as possible you want it to be as inclusive as possible, and modded games are already in a minority. I get the feeling /domg/ are trying to push it into being...

Goddammit, the Fire Breath on those things is AoE 1. They basically come pre-built with a slotless Firebrand. It's only 6 AP damage though. In practice it makes them a terror against light troops, taking out a square each, but against armored troops it drops off fast. Some commanders ride Morvarc'h...
