Re: Early Level Survival ... with an Arcane Trickster
Oh, come on, Frank. Your comparison is highly flawed. Why?[br][br]1. You did not compare your Rogue>Mage Leadership scenario to a comparable levelled Trixter WHO ALSO has the Leadership feat. Give the Trixter a pure Rogue, pure Wizard, Divine Trixter (say, a pure Cleric with the Trickery Domain), or...

Death from massive damage is NOT optional, Frank. It's even in the PH. Death from massive damage based on size is the optional rule presented in the DMG.

Here's what puzzles me. Just HOW MUCH POWER IN YOUR PANTS do you need to accomplish your goals so that you're not being the grim weight on your party that everyone wants to accomplish their goals?[br][br]If there was a choice between playing the standard level 20 druid and a level 20 drowess--and th...

Hide in Plain Sight ... and Frank's take on it.
I remember reading back at Nifty some posts where Frank and another person were claiming that HiPS was nowhere near as glamorous as it appears to be. Claiming that if you were buffed out in Hide and Bluff skills, you could accomplish pretty much everything that HiPS does without having to take the r...

Re: Character Optimization...
Well put, and there is the split between reality and rollplaying. In real life none of us really even know what our ability ratings really are, and for the most part we over estimate what numbers we'd receive if we were indeed trying to rate ourselves. Some of my most successful friends say the secr...

Hmmph.[br][br]well, Frank, if you ever play in my game, don't pick good alignment, because the standards in BoED is more or less the same standards I've held good characters to for nearly 5 years now.[br][br]Except the mercy thing. If they betray you once, you are free to give them the best mercy of...

I undersand. But what if you start with a wizard that does have an Int of 12? That doesn't mean there aren't things that will help boost it up. You get stat bumps, and magic items, even spells. So what's wrong with that? He doesn't have to be the best, but he has to be effective. Right? [br][br]-Ram...

Re: Character Optimization...
The first and fatal mistake is having "my story to tell". There is no such thing. There is the world in which our characters live and they deal with the stories that are sent their way. They have personalities that we give them, but we are being placed in stories that already exist and it ...

At heart I'm a D&D "purist"...[br][br]This means that I believe that D&D should go back to the basics on [br]many,[br]many things. I thought class balance was pretty good under First[br]Edition rules. However, TSR and later Wizards are in this to make [br]money[br]and bend to the w...

Interacting with Figments& Glamers
As a lot of folks know, you can get a lot of bang for the buck with versatile figment spells like Silent Image and Minor Image. [br][br]Since I play with different gaming groups, I get a really wide range of DM responses to the way that "interaction" or "studying the illusion carefull...

Re: SOME of it sorta got saved
That's odd - when I checked it out, the last update was from less than two months after we started the website - December of 2002.
But thankyou - any help is a big help. We had a lot of stuff up on that site, and to loose it all at once is rather a big hit.

Re: Prestige Domains and the spells they give you
Frank said:[br]"Yeah... so?"[br][br]So your deity might get pissed that you turned your back on a spell granted directly by him ... he could probably care less about the spells you are swapping that you learned as a result of your Sorceror mechanics. Those PrD spells are divine gifts from ...

What exactly do you need Frank to figure out if the author bites or the creature is just that powerful? I don't mind typing it out.
