Heh. I don't even know what Tome is. Don't really want to know. I have enough problems right now, trying to figure how to pull this one off (WoD I mean). As for the numbers and balancing, with my luck every game is a potential TPK. I managed to get 26 successes on a regular DP8 roll once... Good thi...

@Frank: That's not one game session. That's about one campaign. 12+ games. And my players aren't ones who would sit quiet if that would be the case. The thing is, it fits the theme and mood of the game - a dangerous, dark world. I don't cheat on their behalf. I don't have to. Especially now when the...

Clarification of the clarification: The max amount of times you can boost it is equal to the lower of: weapon size, or weapon damage. So with a polearm (a glaive for example) that has size 6 and damage step 8 you could get +6 max, giving you a total damage step of 14, plus your Strength step (which ...

@Wotmaniac: Well, none of my players is powergaming that way, and noone was when we played the mortal-based campaign. I wouldn't allow it even though. As for now, they're capped below 10 dice on spellcasting rolls, with low (1-2) Gnosis, no Arcana above 3, and a handful of starting Rotes. I think I ...

And you pick the Passion by the ideal it upholds. Looking on it by powers, probably only Thystonius and Garlen are worthwhile. Thystonius for combat power, and Garlen for healing. Some others might be useful in off-game time, like barter and wealth related powers, or ones that improve artisan or art...

Okay. Besides the tone, I get that you say this doesn't work. Why did it work then? Why did we have a few nasty firefights in which things unfolded like they would in real life, not a mid-day chidren's cartoon? We had people with assault weapons having mid-range firefights that players were caught i...

Erm, this looks a tad silly. Especially since none of those books fit into the dnd framework... I know you could second-guess salvatore's characters levels. But LOTR? Harry Potter? Dresden Files? C'mon... What level would Legolas be, with him being a high elf, and being over 2500 years old, if I rem...

@Wotmaniac: Requiem is actually a 'vampire superheroes' game. For example, Mage doesn't suffer from this problem. I have characters with over 125 XP in my chronicle, and only one reaches a DP of 11... On Science rolls with skill and Intelligence of 5, plus a specialty. I'm using a lot of hotfixes an...

TBH I skipped the Vampire part, since in my games bloodsuckers tend to become enemies, or in the best case scenario, indebted to the characters who released them (accidentally). I'm currently GMing a serious and well-prepared (I've spent two years on that) Mage campaign, which evolved from a mortal ...

@Tenuki: In ED3 every race has a d6 Karma Die. The only difference is their pool multiplier. So you pretty much did the same they did. And the pool is 'Karma Ritual level x racial multiplier', so Windlings still have more Karma, but it's only as powerful as any other Namegiver. @JongWK: Spells becom...

Shadowrun and Earthdawn, obviously. But I rambled enough about those already. Eclipse Phase. For being a real s-f and having hardness of 10 on Mohs scale. For alien aliens, real space travel and habitation physics, cthulhu-esque moments, and for dealing with the TPK problem once and for all. The new...

Example: The battle of Vienna, where the Polish army massacred the Turkish(?) invaders. Their elite cavalry, Husaria, was armored. Pretty heavy: breastplate+helmet+arm/leg plate armor+chain. And they were fighting in the age of cannons and firearms. Well, the fact that they mostly fought enemies fro...

They stated they were monogamous too, and the males competed fiercly for the females. A whole page or two about their courting rituals. So, yeah, fuckers did not do math at all. That was FASA, but yeah, it was overlooked probably. I'll check my Namegiver's Compendium in a moment. Besides, that's wh...

What should happen when a Fire Mage runs into an Asbestos Golem? He wins. But a few levels later he'll get diagnosed with magical cancer... The small sword and the longer rapier became the weapon of choice, until the tri angled epee was developed only because a triangular wound is harder to close t...

1. How easy would it be to use Earthdawn for more generic games? Let's say I want to tell the story of a posse of adventurers who brave the perils of the Fane of Dicko the Genie in order to free him and make wishes for asymmetric power, then destabilize the political situation in the land of the No...
