[After Sundown] Campaign Chronicle: Personaverse AS

The time has come to recount the tale of the After Sundown game I ran for a group of friends. Because why not? Spoiler blocks will be used to separate out detailed information about NPCs and Personaverse background. A bit of background. I'd been thinking about using a modified version of the Shadowr...

Patch 4.1 changes to Summoner's Rift: Turrets Outer turrets no longer gain bonus armor and magic resist for the first eight minutes of the game. Top and middle lane outer turrets now have 20 damage reduction from champion basic attacks for the first eight minutes of the game. Reinforcing the meta mu...

Only in the sense that any roll to determine whether characters succeed or fail at what their players want them to do is a plot twist. Do you regard a saving throw as a RPTG? Battle continues, with a 20% chance of a plot twist where you turn into stone? If you want to analyze it like that, I can't ...

If you show your players an illustration out of the monster manual instead of letting them imagine their own dragon, the Nazis have won.

You don't need skills, because you have a DM. Players tell the DM what they want to TRY to do. The DM decides whether it succeeds or asks for a die roll to provide the appearance of impartiality. You can TRY anything, but in practice if the DM thinks you should fail based on common-sense reasoning y...

That means Clarence is gonna start saying Yes if he isn't already: Do 20s do double damage? Yes. Does that stack with my strength bonus? Yes. Does it stack with my magic sword bonus? Yes. Is this a magic sword? Yes. If I get extra attacks per round can I decide after the first attack who the target...

deaddmwalking, why in the nine hells are you talking to shadzar? He has already made the most bizarre argument from incredulity regarding game design I've ever seen: there is NO system that works, or it would have been done by now and 4th edition likely would have stolen it from some other game. You...

The essential gist is that you can't write a comprehensive and accurate reality simulator. So there's no sense in even trying. Instead, anything not explicitly spelled out can default to "common sense," which saves page count and keeps play moving. If you have to break out your physics tex...

I figured whether it was a stupid question or not I'd learn something from polling Denners for input.

Now I just need to get to max level so I can play "real" games. And ideally stop sucking somewhere along the way. Only way to do that is practice and study.

He's really good, that's all. That rocket arm grab has secured and/or gotten more kills than anything else I've tried has (but I've played more Soraka than anyone else, so my kill count is pretty low in general). His W is great for catching up, engaging, escaping, and putting out more damage once yo...

She has about as much personality as anyone else in FFV. Which is to say that Bartz is a blank slate, Faris is pulling the "lost royalty becomes an adventurer!" trope, and Galuf was Tellah the sequel. Not sure how much there is to hate, honestly.

It's also interesting looking at the spell lists, even for the first couple levels. My understanding is that clerics get sweet buffs, but I'm not really that sure which ones are crucial. 1st level spells are shitty enough that it's easy to tell that Bless is about it, but what are 2nd through 4th l...

I read the orbs as overwriting whatever the bearer's stats would be if they didn't have the orb. Your own statline is irrelevant; pull up the dragon's statline and read it instead.
