Whip, I think Andrei is talking about some of the ones that talk about killing cops or the ones that tried to get the cops removed from a gay pride parade, including the ones that were marching because they were gay or an ally, in Canada. I personally have a problem with those in BLM with that beha...

The need for physical books is an artifact, but there is still a want for physical books. There are people who just like having a physical copy of something, and you shouldn't miss out on that revenue stream as long as you can afford it. Quoted for truth. I have PDFs of the 3.5 PH, MM and DMG, but ...

If stats modify only defense, then diversification trumps specialization. -Username17 In that case, is there a way to make stats not modify attacks that doesn't leave reactionaries foaming at the mouth? I'm finding it really hard to justify not having any stats reflect an increased ability to punch...

Sponge, while I'm not going to foam at the mouth like PL over your idea here I am a bit confused about what you're trying to do.? This isn't tied to a current system, but rather just some brainstorming for how stats might work in, say, 6th edition or Advanced 3rd edition Dungeons and Dragons. Becau...

Re: Stats that are both offense/defense
Because in dungeons and dragons to the extent that Will saves are effected by attributes they ARE routinely dumped , and even dumped by characters with a poor contribution to will save from their classes, JUST to better max out their attribute contribution to their primary attack. Just to be clear:...

Re: Stats that are both offense/defense
Specialists can guarantee a strong primary attack, have a chance of a strong defense, and merely risk low defenses. Uh. Yeah? In Dungeons and Dragons you can dump your will save and probably go a whole level without something actually targeting your will save if you're lucky. But when you encounter...

Re: Stats that are both offense/defense
It's been spitballed a few times here that base stats should really only affect defenses so that people aren't trapped into making certain kinds of characters. If strength determines your bonuses to hit and damage, justifying putting any points into intelligence instead of strength for a warrior is...

Why Rainbow Servant? It's mostly useless before 10 for non full list spontaneous casters. If you can't think of anything else, you could go Ruathar (3/4 BAB, full casting, entry requirement is 9 skill ranks in anything (unless your GM is a stickler for fluff prereqs, in which case 'you must have pe...

YOU are in charge of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 3e...
Say, for the sake of this example, that someone over at Hasbro grows a brain and finally fires Mike Mearls. As they look around for fresh blood to revitalize D&D they (somehow) put you in charge of remaking 3.5 edition into Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition. As this is incredibly broad, ...

It is at these chakras that powerful, binding effects can be tied to the body, making them function for the i...

Combat basics Health Points You have a number of Health Points (HP) equal to your Power Level times 10, minimum of 1. So a PL0 nobody has 1 hp and a starting hero has 10. When your hp reaches 0 you are unconscious. An NPC who is brought down to 0 hp is either dying, if dealt lethal damage, or just u...

I'd look at Koumei's Bakuhatsu High for inspiration and ability ideas, for starters. Already have. My group played a few very enjoyable sessions of that game, but the combat was too limited for us to keep with it for very long. I certainly am stealing a few good bits from it though. The range on yo...

Okay, typing up all the skills is a huge pain in the ass, and you all know what skills basically do, some I'm going to skip a bunch of stuff here. The basics are simple. Attributes Attributes are the basics of the basics- they define the physical, mental and social aspects of your character. The attributes are, in fact, divided into those three categories. Physical Attributes are your Might, Agility, and Precision. Taken together they represent the sum total of wha...

Earth Defense Society (discussion of basic design)
So I'm attempting to make a full RPG for my local group to play, and anyone else on the interbutts who would find the genre and style to their liking. If anyone is interested, or would just like to leave some feedback in general, or would like to comment on the design for the sake of discussing desi...
