Whip, I think Andrei is talking about some of the ones that talk about killing cops or the ones that tried to get the cops removed from a gay pride parade, including the ones that were marching because they were gay or an ally, in Canada. I personally have a problem with those in BLM with that beha...

People have been making "lair effects" for decades, please don't credit 5th Edition for anything. They did not do a single thing that has not been done better before. Anyway, the first thing you need to ask yourself is "Why do monsters get extra abilities while in their lair?" Th...

The need for physical books is an artifact, but there is still a want for physical books. There are people who just like having a physical copy of something, and you shouldn't miss out on that revenue stream as long as you can afford it. Quoted for truth. I have PDFs of the 3.5 PH, MM and DMG, but ...

You might want to make an edit- the first question about payment doesn't specify if it's per person or per game table, while the second question does specify per person. I was confused for a bit trying to decide if the question was "how much should the GM be paid" or "what would I per...

If stats modify only defense, then diversification trumps specialization. -Username17 In that case, is there a way to make stats not modify attacks that doesn't leave reactionaries foaming at the mouth? I'm finding it really hard to justify not having any stats reflect an increased ability to punch...

Sponge, while I'm not going to foam at the mouth like PL over your idea here I am a bit confused about what you're trying to do.? This isn't tied to a current system, but rather just some brainstorming for how stats might work in, say, 6th edition or Advanced 3rd edition Dungeons and Dragons. Becau...

Re: Stats that are both offense/defense

Because in dungeons and dragons to the extent that Will saves are effected by attributes they ARE routinely dumped , and even dumped by characters with a poor contribution to will save from their classes, JUST to better max out their attribute contribution to their primary attack. Just to be clear:...

Re: Stats that are both offense/defense

Specialists can guarantee a strong primary attack, have a chance of a strong defense, and merely risk low defenses. Uh. Yeah? In Dungeons and Dragons you can dump your will save and probably go a whole level without something actually targeting your will save if you're lucky. But when you encounter...

Re: Stats that are both offense/defense

It's been spitballed a few times here that base stats should really only affect defenses so that people aren't trapped into making certain kinds of characters. If strength determines your bonuses to hit and damage, justifying putting any points into intelligence instead of strength for a warrior is...

What, are you going to give an orc runner the ability to summon 1d4 orcs out of thin air if players lose line of sight to them for one whole round? You present this as an absurd position, but it's not. Summoning spells in D&D currently take a full round action. If an orc in question has the mag...
