Re: Annoying Game Questions You Want Answered

I believe Red Rob "disappeared" most lesser items that would have a drastic and obvious effect on the economy if spammed.

Re: [5E] Warlock Patron: The Pied Jester

No opinion on most of this thread, except: being better at generating food by a factor of a hundred vs someone several levels higher who has it more in theme for them seems deeply wrong, and also this: I'm actually not familiar with any of the clowns I used images of beyond Piedmon and Pennywise, th...

Alium Intolerance.

If Krishna can... Uh... Alter reality or whatever can they fix this?
Nah, they gave you Alium Intolerance as punishment for you being too nice to a vampire in your previous life.

Why can't I shake the feeling that you've been saying that the political parties are about to die any minute now ever since they were created? Is it just me?

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

Someday I aspire to make a game so popular that other people describe it inaccurately to each other without my input instead of me having to do it myself.

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

I mean, it doesn't even matter that it happens to work the way which I described it COULD work (it is functionally one uniform "do an athletics check" mechanic). Even if it didn't do that (apparently it does) it certainly still could have. Ah, I guess I overestimated how narrow a "do...

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

Nah what the athletics check stat (named Agility) does is be something to default to that's more interesting and thematic than +0. A variety of different actions and item effects here and there call for Agility checks, the DM is encouraged to ask for Agility checks to accomplish physical stunts (whi...

Players without the skill can't roll to see if they turn a little bit invisible.

Meanwhile, an all-stat game has nothing BUT defaults.
Oh yeah? What ability check is it to turn a little bit invisible then?

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

I'm with PL on this one. In a game where skills can go from 0-50, +1 skill point is so boring as to be completely fucking forgettable. In a game where skills go from 1-5, +1 skill point might actually be a decision worth considering. People want to feel like hot shit when they level up, not like th...

Riiiight, but... then you get into the "btw, when writing content, don't ever tie SoDs to Strength because the DCs will be way higher than any mental stat-based DCs" stuff.

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

A thing I find terribly amusing about D&D and spinoffs like Shadowrun and Traveller is that they list mental and physical attributes as being the same sort of thing while at the same time being clearly aware that they're not. A creature with 30 Strength is like, a cow or a small pickup truck rob...

Re: Mixing & Matching Resource Systems

Yeah if the resource systems are fungible, then you kinda have to make it so that every level of the class helps you gain resources, make it so a Necromancer is twice as good at the Essence Gain mechanic as a Barbarian/Necromancer and the Barbarian is twice as good at the Rage Gain mechanic as a Bar...

I believe Greek gods have Wolverine-style immortality... You can't kill them with normal weapons but you totally can stab them in the face to make it easier to tie them up.

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

Hmm. Sorcerer base class by RAW has nothing to offer other than spells and spell slots Radthemad4's bookmarks show 8 different sorcerers, maybe one of them would strike your fancy. That said, spells are a great kind of class feature, there are even a few spells that are more interesting than a stan...

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

Well, as the designer you should probably think about whether it's better to have Strength than Constitution, and adapt the resource system to make both options (and in-between) equally viable. And then players dump the other non-class-relevant stats in the strict priority list Neo PL Prime mentione...

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

After Sundown works reasonably well with having a bunch of resource recovery systems, which are vaguely in the realm of per day or per encounter (with no expectation of number of encounters per day), where any power can be used with any resource system. Similarly, the thing D&D does where differ...

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

Gempunks has over 600 spells, powers, playable creatures, classlevels, and items... I tried pretty hard not to write any redundant content. And yeah, I guess if you split off each one into the atomic unique parts for some insane reason, I guess it might be closer to 1500. It's hard to count them, bu...
