I've never pulled off a visceral attack on the pigs, but I wonder if this is a "thing" of Miyazaki's. I remember plunging all manner of pointy bits into the rear end of that boar in Undead Parish. In other news, I broke down and looked up how to get to Cainhurst Castle. Holy crap that cour...

Yeah, the holy blade does about 20 more damage than my axe (even at a lower reinforcement level), but I'm addicted to the axe's two-handed range. Unless I'm going for a parry or backstab, I'm usually using it like a halberd.

I've already been all over the Workshop tower, got the Tonitrus, got the Comb and the Umbilical cord... Okay. If you've also got the Tonsil Stone (from any door in Central Yharnam) you can access the Nightmare Frontier. Other than that it sounds like all that's left is going to Byrgenwerth. I'm als...

Six bosses in and I seem to be running out of places to explore. Sort of. I need to go down a path in Cathedral Ward, I think, but I've been through Central Yharnam, Old Yharnam the Cathedral Ward, Henwick, and poked through this place called the Hypogean Gaol. I am pleased with my progress as far ...

I missed the free flamethrower. I am sad. Here's how Window right in front of the Central Yharnam lantern. Like, right in front of it. Talk to the dude in there a couple of times. Wow. How the hell did I miss this window the whole damn time? I've passed by I don't know how many times and neve...

I just finished the Charnel Lane area. The boss there is my favorite so far. It's a nice change of pace from the usual slugfest.

Having cleared three areas (Central Yharnam, Cathedral Ward, and Old Yharnam) and fighting four bosses, I can say for sure that the zones in this game are huge. There are lots of twists and turns and you'll need to backtrack because some places aren't accessible your first time through.

Correction to earlier statement: the new gear for sale doesn't appear after the first boss, you have to find the Saw Hunter Badge down in the waterway. I'm assuming there's a badge for every weapon. Not sure what they might open up. I co-oped my way through the second boss, but apparently there's an...

I saw that the character options include being old, a hobo beard, a skullet, and pince-nez. I immediately rolled with all four. The image of a frail old codger swinging around a pole-axe is immensely entertaining to me. I managed the kill the first enemy bare-handed and then got slaughtered by the g...

Not Dark Souls 2 related, but I'm currently doing an SL1 run on Dark Souls. I have also become a Darkwraith Dickwraith for the first time ever. If you're playing on Steam and get invaded by a pyromancer in the Parish or Burg who spams Great Combustion and the parry button, I apologize. I swear I'll ...

For a long time, I thought I liked Eberron as a setting, but I finally realized that I really only liked a few things from the setting: changelings, warforged, and Sharn. I agree with Prak that changelings and warforged were a missed opportunity for a progressive look at gender, but I must be in the...

The only times I found Aerie or Jaheira unbearable was during their romances... but I tend to feel that way about all BioWare romances. As just party members, they were a little annoying, but nothing I found unforgiveable.

I left Battle of Five Armies convinced that the story would have been better served following the original plan and making it two movies. All of the Hobbit movies sag in ways that Lord of the Rings never did, despite those movies being longer.

There's two other pure fighters, actually. One has decent dexterity and strength but no Con bonus while the other is a dwarf who's rocking 16 dex and 20 con, which rather handily makes him the best recruitable tank. Oh, right. Shar-Teel and Kagain. I've never used Shar-Teel. I just plain forgot abo...

I am currently in the Cloakwood mines with Illusionist/fighter, Kivan, Coran, Minsc, Jahiera, and Imoen. Kivan's been the anchor of the group so far with the majority of the kills despite joining late, though I suspect Coran will slowly catch up. Minsc is kinda a disappointment. I gave him good arm...

In Jade Empire, being a miser with my skill points for half the game so that I could max out double-axes and the Jade Golem style and wreck everything in the endgame. The final boss didn't last 10 seconds to my Jade Golem transformation.

I'm guessing it'll be at the Shrine of Winter (since the Crown of the Ivory King is supposed to be in a snowy era), but that would be a break from the trend they have going now.

Why is he using the bench press as a benchmark? Sure, it's the most common image people have about bodybuilders, but a better measure of overall body strength would be deadlifts or squats. Measuring by deadlifts seems easier since the Lifting and Dragging rules mention "A character can lift as ...

So the first of the Lost Crowns DLC dropped and I've beaten it once with a NG character and am roughly 60% done with it in NG+. I think the $10 price tag is perfectly reasonable. If the next two are of similar quality, then the Season Pass is $25 well spent. The two main areas are both well-designed...

I always thought they were one of the better fey/plant people, but the original fluff is absolutely boring and I would love to see a writeup for them. Maybe new mechanics as well.
I second the Killoren. I've always liked their art.

On Steam, it unlocks on the 22nd. I'm sure it's probably the same for consoles.

Apparently there's also going to be a big calibration update on the 18th.
