I find tussock's and lokathor's technobabble explanations pretty reasonable. They don't immediately fall apart on first glance and explain the setting pretty well, which is all you really want from them. The idea of star wars tech as an unmagicked evolution of old magitech is pretty cute. Though I w...

Anything particularly wrong with saying "there's some kind of aether in space that provides resistance, deal with it"?

The ion cannon thing has so many answers I don't feel like there's an obligation to explain it to fit it into a sensible space combat system. Like, you could have starships be literally unable to carry them. Maybe their operation causes your own systems to fuck up. Maybe they have requirements that ...

Though once you get to starfighters you might have trouble again; who is really going to want to sit in that cramped cockpit for their journey and deal with all the licensing issues that a military vessel like that has? People who want the firepower and don't care about comfort or licensing issues,...

Mord , the only issue I have with your list is it doesn't quite answer the question of "why Star Destroyers?". It does a pretty good job answering "why everything else?", but it leaves me wondering why Star Destroyers over an equivalently priced group of carriers and floating sp...

Why don't they provide Strat with a database dump? FFS this is the exact reason I hate forums -- anything you post is invariably gone after 5 or 10 years.

My biggest hateboner is reserved for the HERO boards, which wiped not just once but twice, taking down all content posted to them.

Surgo, it sounded like you were asking about mechanics that would enforce correct "Star Wars feeling" in a game. Is there a game system that you're already using, or an adventure/Star Wars era/subsetting that you're planning to run? The degree of lampshade-hanging or fluff-saving crunch t...

To respond to a few specific points. The main issue is that having a star destroyer is exactly like having a battleship in 1942, in that Star Wars space combat was based on WW2 naval combat, and unlike WW2 effective fighters aren't a relatively recent invention so there's no excuse for still having ...

Is there a way to have Star Wars space combat make sense?

When you think about ships blasting each other into pieces you naturally think of Star Wars (or at least I do). And that happens because Star Wars space combat is fucking awesome. Something about the X-Wing, TIE fighter, Star Destroyer, and whatnot duking it out totally resonates with people. It wor...

It's been said elsewhere that street samurai are just way too expensive compared to someone using drones, for less effect. How would you address this? Should ware in general just be made cheaper by some factor (wouldn't make them better but could make them more versatile)? Should key pieces be chea...

It was in a different thread, I think discussing alt.war. The gist was they were added to make hackers better which is redundant with EotM.

On a separate note, has anyone developed any additional or advanced echoes?

Sorry about that. I recently added full SSL to dnd-wiki.org (meaning your connection to the site is now encrypted). The certificates (thingies that make your connection secure) only cover dnd-wiki.org though, not dndwiki.com because I forgot about the latter. I'll update the certificates to the .com...

So in other words, he was a real person?

You're not going to find an appropriate subject that ticks off all the boxes that apparently need ticking and is some saintly figure because those people don't actually exist. Most people are assholes in some way, some worse than others.

How rural, and what do you do? About two hours from NYC. I'm a software engineer. It seems like if you live in SF, that you can within 40 minutes get to someplace as rural as 2 hours from NYC. Why are you comparing the other side of the country? That's not really true. You can get rural, but it's g...

I have a pretty good job. It's prestigious and a lot of people would love to have it. Unfortunately, I completely hate where I live (the Bay area) and want to go back somewhere rural to settle down with my wife. So I've been looking for remote positions. I am greatly enjoying the megasplosion in these gens. Disappointed about Mega Salamence instead of Mega Dragonite though. Also I'm still holding out a vague hope for a Mega Mewtwo Z, which is just Mewtwo with his attack stats and defense stats swapped. Seriously, that thing would be a god damn monst...
