I started on 5th edition, with zero knowledge of its history. I absolutely went through that book with intense study, and I didn't get a really good handle on the rules until my players started going at it and asked questions, which drove me to do extra research through the book and online.

For a short time, I was contemplating various actions/abilities that would be called upon in a Scooby-Do Mystery ensemble structure. For reasons unknown, I assigned tools to them. In theory, whatever role you created would have a utility belt consisting of several items from the list. Overlap is per...

How long is it going to take for sufficient medical research to create a good consensus on how Covid-19 moves around? We're still at the stage of "t-shirt masks help some, probably" when it comes to safety measures.

What is Best Mundane System?

Per the subject line, what core system/engine is best for replicating mundane humans in modern day, presuming no supernatural elements or high science?

Do I use d20 with different skills? Shadowrun/After Sundown with the magic/matrix/cyber ripped out? GURPS? Spawn of Fashan homebrew?

Most fresh example in mind is Humanity from the Red Markets RPG, but it's deeply tied to the overall poverty simulation, so I'm not 100% certain how well it can be translated into other systems.

That's not a problem, coming up with plot threads/hooks/villains. The problem is figuring out the structure - much of the campaign has been some variety of hack-n-slash. But if you think it will help, here's a summary. [hr] They encounter a thief, who returns several times. A Mercykiller troll assas...

Designing a High Level Campaign Arc

I have been running a Planescape campaign (Pathfinder base) for the last several years and four score sessions. They're about to reach 17th level. [*] Suvesas (Elven Transmuter) The player joined three levels ago, an otherwise typical wizard who likes new spells and exploration. [*] Twilight Oblivio...

Does anyone have the link to the thread that discussed new iconic villains for either TNE or Tome in general? I distinctly remember a high level, Strahd analogue that was something like a lich or mummy that wore a beautiful golden mask to hide the fact her face was worms or something.

I was intending the fact it's called an Earldom as a historical holdover, much like the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The use of Thane for a step above Citizen is for the same principle.

Setting Design: Earldom of Confidences

This is a rough draft. I'm curious as to what should be modified to improve upon this setting. Additional question - I want the artifact to have a destruction condition that requires several hours of being in one place somewhere on the same plane, and said condition is technically preventable throug...

Lots of examples, but suffice it to say, whatever you want for Pokemon will broadly work. What's important is production quality and whether you design it well. But does it terribly matter right now? We are not legally allowed to work with the franchise, nor are our discussions going to really influ...

They dabbled in other half-breed races in 2nd edition - such as the half giants & half-dwarves/Mul of Dark Sun, the half ogre of the Complete Book of Humanoids, the tiefling/aasimar/genasi of Planescape, or even the half-dwarf (and half human, halfling, or elf) of Forgotten Realms

Space Madness: Playtest Adventure: The Bent Man

I have run an introductory adventure as a playtest for the system. The outline can be found here . This is intended as a simple and short adventure to help introduce various concepts to the players, and could arguably considered a very important implication of the standard structure for the game. If...

It's more of a...dormant homing missile? It sits in dormancy, but is activated by active ship sensors/radar (coded radio signal can temporarily deactivate this feature). Once active, it homes in on the biggest target (thermal, radio, cavoritic, undecided) with a chemical rocket. Detecting and recogn...
