Penn and Teller had a great piece discussing drugs in the USA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEyKAzXqVkA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbI6HbOSTgE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leg3_gcE3p8 [hr] One important idea not yet addressed is how the War on Drugs functions on a worldwide scale. As has bee...

Some spells restrict you to willing targets only. Declaring yourself as a willing target is something that can be done at any time (even if you’re flat-footed or it isn’t your turn). Unconscious creatures are automatically considered willing, but a character who is conscious but immobile or helples...

I agree with your assertion K. I also see fault in other areas you didn't address: A two-fold plan emerged: A great leap into the future would allow nearly every part of Faerûn to appear fresh to everyone, both new fans and old. No one could be intimately familiar with the previous century’s happeni...

Enworld Reviews
4e has been out for a few months, and its critics have quited down significantly since its release. As a result, Enworld has revived their review section, now that there is not such a great threat of 4e criticism (and criticism of their main advertisers). Since the 4e core rulebooks don't seem to be...

Then you get back to LotR. Or even the real world. In the real world, there are tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, famine, war, disease, etc. Or are you saying that all struggle in a real world game setting is meaningless? The crazy thing is that to some extent you can win or at...

I have to agree with Crissa here... people who play WoW actually do like WoW and chose to play it over other games. Now I have no idea why people actually like MMORPGs like that, just like I have no idea how people can get enjoyment from watching Nascar, but apparently people do. The grinding MMORP...

That's only the reality of Dnd because of the encounter/xp system. If you make one change in the xp rules, the entire problem disappears. The encounter/experience system doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you're in a universe that will always be shitty no matter how much power you gain....

It is meaningless if there are other omnipotent people out there who hate what you stand for and try to protect are still out there. Imagine how Lord of the Rings would've ended if instead Sauron being the Big Bad Evil Guy, there was an Eviller and Bigger Bad with stronger armies out there... and w...

...you still can't control the universe. People will still be starving on some distant planet somewhere, maybe even in your own planet. Enjoy your hollow victory, hero. So, your opinion is that unless you are literally omnipotent, accomplishments in the game are meaningless. ... Very few people agr...

At no point can you not play with many of your friends at any level of the game in WoW. It doesn't even have to be about people being to lazy or that the middle of the game isn't any fun. One of my friends who was playing WOW had a friend level up his character for him because he didn't play enough...

Um... you guys know what a wiki is right? It's illogical to put something on a Wiki site and expect it to remain unchanged forever. And to then police it to make sure it stays intact. If you just want to advertise the Tomes, then put a link to the Pdf and a disclaimer up that states the content on t...

I agree with most of what was said. I'll just list the ones I didn't agree with. Once you know what an enemy can do in combat, actual combat is just a grind and not exciting (every game, evar.) Buffing routines that involve more than 2-3 spells get boring really fast. (Neverwinter Nights games, Fina...

Maybe you guys could quit being a bunch of [EDITED] who value snappy rude comments for the sake of snappy rudeness and man up to being polite about your criticisms instead of baw-wah-wah'ing about others getting combative in response to your combative tone? We value intelligent criticism, mostly co...

Sphere, I'd buy that arguement is this was a necessity. If it was food or shelter or medical care sure. But an MMO is an optional luxury item. I have no sympathy for people who can't handle it in a way that doesn't wreck their lives. I don't know if I have any sympathy either. But any fault of the ...

I still don't see how its Blizzard's fault that some people are dumb enough to pay money for something they don't want. Whether you ascribe “fault” to Blizzard or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that Blizzard enables destructive behaviors with its game through its business choices, which causes...

1) Every President has millions of people that hate him. How many people would wish death upon Bush? I really don't think that the number of people who want Obama dead significantly outnumber the number of people that want people in the Bush administration dead. Yes, racism is significant, irrationa...

You have to be shitting me, they were selling the betas The entry itself *sigh* That is saddening. I mean, at best (worst?), people know they are buying an unfinished product. People cheat in pro sports. People like the sport even though you can cheat at it. People who like the sport condemn the cheats. How can you not see a correlation to goldfarming? Your analogy is off. People like playing baseball. Most (all?) MMO's are deeply flawed. The correct analogy would be if ...
