I wonder about that. I don't remember Galad getting anything worse than other people's contempt. The problem is, I think he was also pretty oblivious to said contempt, so it's hard to count it as punishment.

The reading comprehension (or lack thereof) in this thread is amazing. Bloodline Arcana: Some undead are susceptible to your mind-affecting spells. Corporeal undead that were once humanoids are treated as humanoids for the purposes of determining which spells affect them. So we have people arguing t...

I'm pretty sure the conservatives on MSNBC were originally hired because they were Bush critics. After all, MSNBC started its current programming direction in response to Fox acting as an extension of the Bush administration's press office. Basically, in order to be fair, they decided not so much to...

This made me both laugh and cry: MSNBC is, well, a lot more tolerable to me than Fox News. At least it's actually funny during the times I'm around it. Even if it is just as biased... Fun points of what I saw tonight: 1) Remember Schiava...Shiavo...whatever, back in 2005? Of course you don't. Point...

@Cielingcat: The decepticon sexbot? It seduces Shia and then while making out tries to kill him with its 10ft prehensile dick. @MGuy: Yeah. They refuse to say "I love you", Shia regularly ignores her, forgets about the webcam sessions, gets caught making out with the dickgirl robot, wacky...

This is why I stated that the debates don’t count. Everything was pretty much scripted, something that one could expect and prepare for well in advance. It is not a good indication of his ability to “ad lib” a conversation or to hold a real debate. The nasty questions were not thrown at him, unlike...

Well, since we've had people show up here and post the most disgusting hentai images possible, there's a good chance somebody just wants to sully the Den's name (whether or not it was good to begin with).

While it is no doubt that D&D became a combat oriented game it is not clear that it was originally intended to be so. Non combat encounters were a major part of the initial feel of the game; going through wilderness, searching for stuff, etc. Combat was the most “detailed” because it was the mo...

Here's a news story to give some context

Basically, the guy was upset that they only passed out 30 cards to the first 30 people who wanted to speak, and he wasn't one of them. This, even though the hall was packed with anti-reform people, and they also got to ask the lion's share of the questions.

*ahem* DnD is a role playing game good sir. By definition it is a game you Role Play in. And the default assumption is that you're roleplaying a mercenary who makes a living by killing monsters and taking their things. Your character's life centers on combat, and for that very reason, there's a det...

Absolutely! Lamentably, I do not have the book yet.

The ideal combat length is going to depend on a couple of things: How long before the PCs are "mopping up" or spamming the same maneuvers because they've run out of other options? This is a big concern in 4e. Basically, if you spend more than a couple of consecutive rounds at the end spamm...

I think people could stand to be a bit more accepting of people who just like 4e or whatever for their own reasons. It would help if 4e fans weren't, by and large, incoherent people. I'm pretty sure all three reasonable 4e fans in the world already post at the Den. The outsiders who come here to de...

The problem is that the wizard has a way around the chasm while the fighter doesn't. Not to mention the fact that the wizard has more effective ways than swords to hurt the opposition.

Based on what's been posted, you can still distribute 4e mods, but you can't do it as a defined Fan Site using WotC copyrighted materials. Basically it only says you can't slap the 4e logo or artwork on whatever you're doing if it mods the rules. I don't think this is exactly correct. Specifically ...

I'm seriously trying to figure out why people are so motivated to complain about "Points of Light." It's obviously a setting (or more accurately setting concept) for beginning GMs who want to run a simple campaign. It releases the DM from having to think about how the PCs' home base intera...

Here in southern Ohio, we're waiting with bated breath to see if we're going to break the record for coolest July ever recorded. We've had several days where the high temperature didn't break 70.
