Something Rotten was the low point of Enemy Within, by a wide, wide, margin. EVERY adventure in that book was PCs meeting uber powerful DMPC, it was pretty annoying. The players pretty much had to bend over and take it in every adventure. Death on the Reik was cool, though...the players had a "...

I actually played Oldenhaller 2ish years ago, putting in 4e rules. I'd established 4e can't model D&D modules very well, but I was curious how well it could work with WFRP style adventure. The players naturally were uberviolent. They thought nothing of attacking the entire gang of thieves (it al...

Ah, I played lots of WFRP; even won a GM competition at GenCon. Combat is brutal and bloody, and elves basically RULE for characters, but there are some details. That "one less fate point" at character creation made considerable difference; lots of elf PCs died. "Dodge blow" is a...

The D&D wizard is a work of fiction that has a completely unrealistic expectation of "uses a book".
Indeed, that is some total BS book-using there.

The premise sucked me in, too, though I've never found any joy in superhero games. The book's a'coming in the mail, hope it doesn't disappoint.

Thanks, I'll go with Tiefling just to be a little different. The munchkin at the table is aasimar cleric, which should give plenty of extra healing. I still think it's nuts that a first level wizard gets 4 first level spells (one which need not be memorized in advance), 7 innate attack spells for ea...

Well, I'm trying something less than the perfectly obvious...elf is the no-brainer, but I'm trying to see if there are any other options. I can live without the Int bonus...improved DCs isn't relevant if you mostly summon monsters and buff yourself/others. If you start with a 16, that sets up for up...

Yeah, but it's only an extra +1 (but bottom line, since ranged attack is dex based, you MUST use a dex bonus race for most any wizard type). Any breakable ways to make Halfling Enchanter work? Between the Cha bonus, the Enchanter Bonus, a viper familiar for +3, that's a lot of bonus, above and beyon...

Well, Mage Armor gives a pretty hefty bonus, and 1/hr level is pretty much "whole adventuring day" after a level or so. The high dex means you also can use a bow pretty well (I know, PF wizards already get stupid numbers of spells as it is...but can you stack on idiotic feats like adding I...

Ok, going to be playing in a PF campaign soon. My character has 3 16's, and everything else decent enough. My class is wizard. I figure I'd appeal to the guys that know best. It sure seems like Elf + Wizard (maximizing dex and int, the two things wizards need, in order) is the only way to go that ma...

Just finished Gene Wolfe's anthology "Endangered Species". Like all of Wolfe's writing, much of it is profoundly weird. Some stories seemed to read like they were chunks of a larger work (and 3-4 short stories seemed to be connected to each other, but were still presented as separate work...

I've never quite "gotten" the military shooters, the expansions seldom add anything, and usually put stuff in that is removed immediately in pub servers or "serious" matches. Actually, it's been a while since I've enjoyed a PvP style shooter. Borderlands 2 is a hoot, though it's ...

AOW Shadow Magic is the best. It takes time for sequels to start sucking hard, and "3" is just a little early (but possible).

Do we talk about mobile games in this thread too? Because this shit is hilarious, and addicting, to boot. Haha I love that game. xD As for the mention about game dev tycoon, I liked that too. It's a bit frustrating once you upgrade out of your garage though. Hey, I have that on my PC, surprisingly ...

I haven't even tried the America map--I figure too much of an unfair advantage there. The Spanish 50% bonus is just so "meh". If I'm in conquering mode, I get some dragoons, which already have an excellent chance of winning any battle in the early game (str 4.5 vs str 1, and that's without...

There's some advantage there, but there's some disadvantage, too. Suppose the quest flop is all Religious & Fighter...if player 2 wants a quest, he's going to muck the whole pile and get 5 new cards, screwing both other players out of (probably) desired quests. Neither other player will ever be ...

Hey, I remember playing this in London in 82...feeling silly being in a foreign city and playing a game book, but man was it fun at the time.

The board game wasn't too awful either, for a kid's game.

Turns out there is a new Acashic spell that does what Acashic Record used to so...and an artifact/book that does it as an action (in the book-holder's zone). To judge by the how fast the dominion spreads, I'm going with the latter interpretation, each point is a temple. It seems like I read that som...

I'm definitely thinking tinkerbelling is a bigger factor in Throne games. Thrones spew out multiple dominion (just got one that gives 5 a turn). Just one of those near a capitol will cause issues if it's not owned by the god in the capitol.

Weird, I don't recall the alien probe thing, and they showed us all sorts of splashy stuff at E3. If Lara C can have human brains (from her attempted rapist) on her face, why not alien rectal probes in a game totally devoted to goofy? Ah well, maybe it was bugged at the time, though the game otherwi...

Yeah, alt-tabbing lets the shifts work again...you don't have to quit out. I'm building another cube army. Eventually, I'll try a gift of reason on one, then use an item that increases a creature's size by 4...past that is profit, I'm sure. Edit: bah, no Reason on mindless creatures. In related news...
