Wait, so PL, to confirm: your stance is that some people do have less fun when someone else in the party can do all the same things their character can do, but fuck those people, because Grownups have just as much fun when everyone has the same build as when they're the only one who does the thing t...

As someone who's played a lot of GURPS (4th Edition) and whose favorite system may well still be GURPS... How do pure universal systems manage, then? Gentlemen's agreement? 1. Generally quite badly. 2. With lots and lots and lots of pre-game discussion between each of the players and the GM and betw...

The way Numenera works around hoarding is by setting a hard limit to the number of consumables you can carry. I haven't tried that personally but it sounds like it would be a constant gamble - use too many, and you end up under your cap, use too few and you lose some of the new ones without even us...

OR we could argue about only marginally relevant abstract made up terminology that the one guy other than the OP has used once ever so far. When you put it that way, it feels like we made the right choice. Dogbert , I think it might be more effective in getting your word into parlance if you make y...

Re: Low Fantasy Gaming RPG
o Cure spells work more slowly (1d3 minutes) on subjects reduced to zero hit points. [...] o Players test to see if a downed adventurer is dead only after combat has ended. Sounds like an incentive to stretch the fight with the last mook out for three minutes while you wait for your buddy to get ba...

Given Ritual Magic, Magic Armor gives 4hp at Mage 1 and 8hp more with every additional point of Mage, requiring a maximum of 25 minutes at Mage 1 and 5 additional minutes per point of Mage. For comparison, each point of Warrior gives 1hp. Now, sure, the Magic Armor hp are ablative and can't be regai...

It really can't make up its mind on how rules-light it wants to be, though. For instance: There are circumstances which can make tasks harder or easier to perform than usual. The lack of tools makes it harder to craft something. A master crafted weapon grants a bonus to an attack. Or bad lighting co...

If someone were actually being paid to produce this content, you'd think they'd be able to get a lot more made frequently. They're clearly not getting paid to produce this content. They're getting paid regardless of whether content is produced. None of this discussion accounts for how very easy it ...

So what happens to your life if Trump wins I mean I'm not sure but the most likely scenario seems to be my health insurance goes away, I can't pay for my meds, and I kill myself. It could go better than that, depending on how my individual state handles insurance things, or it could go worse (I cou...

The argument I've seen for Clinton getting us into a war with Russia is that she wants a no-fly zone in Syria, which could theoretically lead to the US shooting down a Russian plane, which could theoretically embroil us in the THIRD WORLD WAR. Little Late For That.... -Username17 And Russia's respo...

Re: [5e] I'm not quite sure how to feel about this
I loved reading Volo and Elminster snark at each other in the 90s. I don't want to duplicate any product that's come before. I think that if people have seen it, then it's not really new and it's not really exciting. I don't know who Volo is or where he and Elminster snarked at each other, but I'm ...
