Re: People are stupid.
Just like to chime in that a 2nd level Blinding Color Surge* or a 2nd level Invisibility* cast defensively (or quickened to avoid the whole issue) can be used to avoid AoO's all together. Cast Spell, walk away. For bonus points, quicken it, cast a Ghost Sound of you walking in the other direction, o...

Re: Worst Spell Components?
Ah, my mistake. As a side note, wow, what a horrible spell. Range: Touch too.

Re: Worst Spell Components?
I'm pretty sure that if you leave the child alive, you are violating the intent. The spell WAS in the book of Vile Deeds. As a necromancy spell. I think a better question is whether a child-zombie-finger counts.

Re: Magic Swords
I played in a party that looted dungeons. We then sold them, to people that wanted to build dungeons. You can put a price on a dungeon. If each character resolves to have a bag of holding type 3, the only reason NOT to steal everything is that you are under time crunch. Literally, this party took th...

Re: WotC: Bringing You Suck Beyond Suck
Wow, if it is true that at it's peak level it gets 1 6th level spell, then it is worse that I thought. Terribly worse.[br][br]That would mean that it's capstone ability will involve it casting.... wait for it... A QUICKENED HASTE. Wow. Keep in mind that we had to reduce the cost of quickening haste ...

Of course, the ability that it grants is sub-par to two feats[br]Easy Metamagic (Reduce one kind of metamagic by 1)[br][br]Of course if you took this with Quicken Spell, you wouldn't have to choose ONLY which spells it affects, it would affect all of them.[br][br]Beguiler has to be the only way to g...

Re: Wizard Design
No reason to be pitiful about your AC before character creation is finished. I am playing an illusionist (Beguiler/UM) atm, and I do a good job of maintaining the 50% miss chance, but it is just that, 50%. At level 9, I have an AC of 22 without trying particularly hard.[br]10 base[br]+2 Amulet of Na...

Re: Campaign Milestones!
My longest campaign is over 5 years. It depends on how you count it, but we played about 3x/month for 5 years (8th grade to 12th), and on/off after I went to college (continued at 1-2x/month for freshmen year), and on/off 1x/3months after that. We STILL HAVE all 4 of our original characters. The hig...

Re: Need some advice: Playing a 'Core' character in the WLD
I know you will probably hate me for this, but if you are looking at 15 encounters per day as a wizard, you may want to consider the direct damage Reserve Feats in Complete Mage. Range touches are superior to the bow strikes, but cost a feat to do it all day long.[br][br]Please don't hurt me.[br][br...

Thanks go out to you for writing such a good list. I recently recieved the Spell Compendium as a gift, and this has helped significantly to find the spells that I want my wizard to pay inflated prices for the following day.[br][br]Playing an Ultimate Magus, this list is expecially handy.
