Ah, I dunno, maybe I shouldn't be taking it all so seriously; it's just that all my aunts and uncles work at Fenway, and they were really close to the explosions, so I was pretty rattled yesterday and some of today.

They're all okay, thankfully, but still, when something like this happens so close to home, you tend to be more sensitive about it.

Deaths and crippling injuries are always sad and tragic. Which is exactly the point - as tragic as you think the Boston bombings are, booze, cigarettes, obesity, and vehicle accidents (and a bunch of other shit) all killed more people than the bombings did in the very same day and are more tragic. And they killed just as many the day before. And they'll kill just as today. And they will will continue to kill people at those rates for the foreseeable future, while the next bombing will be who knows when and will most likely, like this bombing, completely fail to oust its competitors even in the very day it occurs.

Pointing out that other tragedies happened yesterday is not a trivialization of the bombings. Quite the reverse - the media overemphasis on these bombings is a trivialization of all those other tragedies they aren't mentioning, many of which are not only more tragic but also more preventable. The actual tragedy of April 15th, 2013 is not that some crazy dude blew up a bomb and hurt a bunch of people. It's that we let another day pass without raising taxes on tobacco, or laying down public transit infrastructure. Those are decisions that will kill more people than this lunatic asshole could ever hope to.

So it looks like the bombs in Boston were made using pressure cookers, which makes it very difficult to track down suspects based on the materials used.

Sigged.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

If Iceland needs some fresh genes, I'd be more than happy to impregnate a couple dozen of their women.

All I ask is for them to foot the travel costs, room and board while I'm there, and some hákarl and a bottle of brennivín to take back home.

They make this, but Palisades doesn't get to make a Magician figure.

I'm even sadder that they had Judgement (featuring the little Frostling-looking imp and his Pokemon Karl the Headless Giant Suit of Armor) coming down the line, but were canceled; that guy pretty much IS House of the Dead for me.

Especially since remember, there's no such thing as a second chance... for the House of the Dead to have another line of action figures (although I hope I'm wrong.)

Okay, remember the Boston Marathon Bombings?

Well, they've found the two dudes who were responsible for it; one of them is dead (YAY!), and the other is on the run, armed and dangerous, and he's running all around Boston, so police are urging people to stay in their homes, and all the schools have closed, and the T (the public transit system, for those outside of Mass.) is closed, and basically it just sucks.

Why? Well, I had plans to go out into the world today, places to see and people to go, etc. etc.

But because of those fuckasses who bombed the Marathon, I have to stay home and pout.

Goddamnit.

That is effective Terror.
Not the stupid little bombs.
But disrupting a complete city, all on your lonesome self?
The financial damage from the not working public transit alone will be gruesome.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

My Iranian friends were really hoping it wasn't Muslims this time. I was just hoping it was someone that wouldn't get us dragged into a pointless war with thousands dead. But Chechen terrorists is certainly interesting. Obviously we aren't going to invade Russia because we got attacked by Chechens playing GTA: Boston.

It's going to be funny to see how the racists react when they find out that the terrorists are literally caucasian.

I'm waiting for the inevitable right-wing backlash about these "Ivy League elite" terrorists. That should be fun.

The inevitable anti-immigrant backlash will be extremely tedious, but I expect that the racists will enjoy that angle.

I never got rejoicing when a suspect gets killed. There are questions only a living suspect can answer. If you are feeling punitive I think life in prison is a stronger punishment then getting shot and dieing soon after. There is also something more definitive about trying someone and finding them guilty then just having investigators point and say 'it was them!'.

they will either rant about how they are immigrants and/or that they are muslims (which is not confirmed, yet, but to be expected).

This.

Especially if the other guy is taken alive and his lawyers go with the "the other guy made me do it" defense. Maybe Black Hat did make White Hat do it and maybe he didn't, but with Black Hat dead we'll probably never know.

I'm not thrilled that he's dead, but let's look at the facts for a minute. Ignoring the marathon bombing for a second, we have a man who, last night, did the following:
1) shot multiple people, killing one (security officer in a parked car)
2) armed carjacking, holding the driver hostage in the car for half an hour
3) threw explosives from the car and exchanged fire with the police. Like, a LOT of gunfire. At least one officer was critically injured.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's acceptable police practice to shoot to kill at that point. The guy was an immediate and direct threat to officers and the public, and I'm glad that the damage the two of them did last night wasn't worse.

The second guy's been caught alive, according to the news
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.
