Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

My grandfather is dying. He'd been hospitalized for a heart attack, but when I saw him on Sunday it looked like he would pull through. He's taken a dramatic turn for the worse since, and the doctors say he has at most three weeks to live. Frankly, given the number of warning lights on the monitor and how erratic his breathing was, I don't really expect him to see sunrise tomorrow.

I'm sorry, man.
I remember when my grandparents died--in this case, they got picked off by cancer one at a time. They all went down really slowly and painfully.
Damn if I know if either way's the better way for it to happen.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.
Lesbian porn wouldn't pass the Bechdel test unless it has dialogue. I'm not an expert, but I would think a substantial amount of lesbian porn would fail on that count.
EDIT: Not only do I have a new computer, but I just moved into a new place. This will be the first time in about 4 years I've had my own room and I am crazy excited.

Ancient, what do you use to be notified when your name is mentioned on the Den? Google? Frequent site searches? Voodoo witch magic?
It's voodoo witch magic, isn't it?

Anyway.
I'm getting older. And my heart attack scare earlier this year was a bit of a wake-up call.
It's not like I'm -that- unhealthy, but I do have a hereditary history of heart anomalies. And if you want to feel old, have a burning pop in your chest when you bend over, which makes your vision instantly black out while you shudder your way down to the floor to keep from outright falling.

Actually I'm genuinely curious as to how old people like PR and Elensar were. Youth does a lot to one's internet mannerisms, but they could just as easily have been crazy old coots (see Tzor)

I'm actually even younger both of you.

I've always imagined everyone on the Den to be over ninety and filled with a lifetime's worth of bitterness and regret, yelling at their ever diminishing pension checks and scaring children on the street shitless about pointless things from long ago that no one but them cares about with pointed burnished sticks to help relieve the stress of their ever more painful last days.
Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee

Lets see...
Over 90? Nope.
Filled with a lifetime's worth of bitterness and regret? Yep.
Yell at ever diminishing check? Oh yeah.
Scaring children shitless on the street? Definitely.
Three out of four ain't bad, Shrap. Anyone else want to check themselves?

Scaring children shitless on the street? I live in Camden New Jersey, I am the least scary thing that children on the street will ever have to deal with.
