It's been interesting to read past threads where some of the same people weren't able to grasp basic concepts.

Or possibly, understood, but faked incomprehension just for fun. I can't quite believe it could be intentional, given how ridiculous it makes them look.

You lost this argument as hard as anyone has ever lost anything you implied that the USA was a freer place when people still had slaves. Everything after that has been you embarrassing yourself.

Technically, I'd say he lost it when he refused to correct himself on the slavery issue. The original quote could have been an embarrassing mis-step, but very pointedly not bending on that point is telling. Combine that with his absurd social Darwinism and he really has told you exactly what he is.

actually I think he failed worse than you, you lost the argument by implying the problem in Somalia was too much government, Occluded Sun lost the argument by implying he thought the U.S. was a freer country when people still owned slaves.

Not really. His second rage quit was when several other posters and I kept pressing him to answer one or more questions he was dodging. He'd leave the thread without answering it, then come back a week later with a link of new "evidence" to try and change the topic.

Yikes, you're absolutely right; I should've reviewed some of his posts instead of working straight from memory. I amend my statement: at least his posts could be parsed and contained relatively intelligible ideas, unlike these more recent ones that give me flashbacks to that one postmoderism course I took.

Edit: Not that the philosophies are at all similar of course. Postmodernism was just the first I had encountered so much wordage and so little substance.

I don't know what is going on with the Occluded Sun thing. I don't think I read anything he wrote. But the record, I don't want to be associated with anything he said because it's entirely possible he's an asshole and lacking sophistication.

So the study says that violence was reduced by silk road, the bit coin based drug network, because they could buy and sell without knowing physical locations.

Now obviously, nothing about that says anything about mutual benefit or efficiency, but whatever.

My point is just the conclusion is literally the dumbest thing to say about any discussion of violence in drug deals, since unlike literally any transaction that the government is involved in, drug sales, the only market the government has absolutely no dealings with, is has violence.

I'm 99% sure that my suppliers of heavily regulated food and advil don't murder each other with guns. But the unregulated things that government has nothing to do with has violence.

And when you use a slightly different manner to transact that business, less violence, but still more than advil. Fuck my life, how do these people post this dumb as shit dumb shit without accidentally stumbling on the irony.

Pretty sure the answer here is "nothing", and all so "efficiency" and "mutual benefit" take a big hit. At least when dealing with your local dealer, everyone is pointing a gun at each other to make sure nobody pulls any tricks*.

Do libertarians just all believe that nobody would dare violate the inherent value of magical money, their deity, by soiling its reputation with fraud or theft? In which case, the guy grabbing all the bitcoins and running off with them must have done their world view some damage.

*I've never done a drug deal other than the most literal "went to chemist, purchased legal drugs, possibly with a prescription". Zero guns were involved, unless you include the implied government guns. I may have met a dealer once, I'm not sure if the guy loitering outside the arcade was offering to sell me drugs with "Can I help you?" or was implying I should fuck off because I didn't really belong in that arcade. Note that the place did get closed down later due to all the drug deals.
