I only know of two cases in the USA
This one is high profile, US soldier with his pistol out to fight the shooter shot by police responding to the mass shooting

This one is a small paper, haven't seen this reported elsewhere:

Police respond to home invasion, shoot armed home owner:

So what other cases in the US, your country, anywhere in the world have you found of a good guy with a gun being mistaken for a bad guy?

There was one where a security guard caught a shooter and the arriving police shot him, then lied about the conditions under which he was shot.

Only for pointing out racism. This seems specifically about the "good guy with a gun" myth and how it plays out in reality.erik wrote:Does a toy gun count?

There was a shooting at an open-carry thing in the states, maybe last year, and the police said it was impossible to do anything at all because fucking everyone had guns and were all running away at the same time, and the people open-carrying said the same thing, you couldn't tell who the shooter was when everyone had guns.
There was another shooting at an open-carry thing in the states further back, where two of the open carry people responded by shooting at the primary shooter, and of course ended up shooting more innocent civilians in the background because bullets do that.
Like, literally, cops are supposed to be good guys with guns, and cops in the US shoot fuck tonnes of people every year for often extremely dubious reasons, and then also, don't shoot lots and lots of people who you might expect them too via this whole "good guy with a gun" theory.
There was that guy in Texas who shot the kids collecting for charity because he was protecting his neighbors house from brown people. He thought he was a good guy with a gun, even as the police begged him not to. The Jury even agreed with him!
Obviously, or maybe not if you don't know, but terrorists in general, they totally think of themselves as good guys with guns. Shooting up churches and stuff, they think they're saving people by shooting their enemies.
Like, wars in general, ISIS think they're good guys with guns, and so does everyone fighting against ISIS. Like, ... I dunno. This train of thought goes nowhere good.
