Using terms that shouldn't be insults as insults is offensive to the people who meet that category or are close enough to it.The Adventurer's Almanac wrote:Also, insults are offensive? Color me surprised.
"You shouldn't call things gay to insult them" or "you shouldn't call white people the N word when they piss you off" is the kind of thing that general society has picked up on as not being acceptable and asking for that minimum level of concern for others is perfectly reasonable.

I forgot how good his attack bonus was. I know I could make myself “immune to just about everyone” but Malak could have been an exception. I got to the point where I couldn’t fail to hit him (attack bonus in the forties), and I seem to remember that I could get him to miss me on occasion but maybe he just rolled a lot of 1s or something. I do remember that boosting saves (and admittedly many of the save boosters also give immunities) works wonders on him though. I’d honestly have to look over the game again to tell you for sure.Count Arioch the 28th wrote:Considering he has an attack modifier of +38, I didn't bother with trying to boost AC. I'm sure it CAN be done, I just didn't feel like it. My skinny consular just put on the helmet that makes you immune to critical hits, let Malak run himself out of force points (as he's a guardian that takes like 3 rounds), then I kept smacking him ineffectually with my laser sword. I had a shitload of med kits and a pretty high medical skill, he did not.Darth Rabbitt wrote:The mine trick is fun. Getting the high end energy shields and stims and then just getting all the equipment that boosts Dex and saves also allows you to kill him fairly easily (I once made a Dark Side Guardian that dropped him in 5 minutes, no use of mines). Crit immunity is definitely helpful but I don't think it's necessary if you can dodge/tank enough of his damage from high Dex, save boosts, and energy resistance. If you're not a scout (and you probably shouldn't be) taking the implant feats is really good.
My dark side soldier/sentinel would probably stomp a mudhole in his ass in a few rounds. He's a standard dual wield/flurry/force speed build that is popular with the kids these days.
EDIT: Technically, I am talking about "critical hits" because Malak has Master Critical Strike. In reality, anything that prevents stunning, being hit, or making that DC 29 fort save more manageable would likewise solve the battle. It's just that out of those things the only thing I had was a helmet that prevented critical hits. His damage is high for a single target but is completely manageable when you're not being constantly stunned. Honestly it was harder getting through the halls with the infinitely respawning dark jedi and sith troopers (I didn't know how many it would take to kick my ass but I did find out how many the game was willing to throw at me).
Also Kotor 2 is the Chrono Cross to Kotor’s Chrono Trigger: it’s less good than the original and shits on the original (literally nothing you did matters), the plot is poorly paced and makes no sense, it has a bunch of forgettable characters that the game can’t support (outside of annoying npcs that rant at you that the writers think is DEEP but is really just nonsense, looking at your beggar moralizing Kreia), you don’t get an ending and the only interesting thing about its overly fiddly game mechanics is seeing how hard you can break them (with the exception that CC is hard if you don’t do this instead of ridiculously easy.) Down to the point where it’s defended by a small group of people on the internet (mostly gamefaqs forums) and no one else I’ve ever met cares about the game if they even remember it.
Also also, imagine being pathetic enough to be using “autism” as an insult in the year 2020.

After finishing a dark side walkthrough of KotOR2 I'd say the Chrono Cross comparison was right in the fact that there are too many characters. I like using different characters and I feel like I didn't get a chance to really utilize most of them.
I don't agree that the plot of KOTOR1 "didn't matter", it was just the first battle in a longer, more involved war. Kind of like how the plot of Empire doesn't nullify A New Hope, it's just one part of a larger war. Since KotOR3 never came out, we'll never know what happened when Surik and Raven meet and they fight the "true sith".
Also, I feel that weapon modding is a bit overpowered in 2. It's improved over part 1 but I feel like the boosts are a little too high, a blaster doesn't need to do 40+ damage. Even if mid-levels it was fun watching Hanharr tear everything to shreds with his vibro double-blade (late game I had like 600+ fp and just spammed Force Storm). Trayus academy didn't give me the troubles that the Star Forge did as I never even went below 75% fp while spamming it.

So I bought an external SSD to transfer a bunch of stuff so I had enough space to install Kingmaker. It is not a reasonable size, but hey, "poorly designed, inefficient, inelegant, bloated and overly clunky, taking up too much space as a result" is appropriate for Pathfinder, so whatever.
After applying a bunch of mods (more portraits because seriously, a few extra races/classes/feats, turn-based because obviously, and unlocking the camera so I can see what the fuck is happening in half the places, clean-up to reduce load times and save file size, resting-doesn't-require-rations because if I'm not counting individual arrows I'm not weighing my party down with 100lbs of rations) I'll say it's pretty good. Never go for the quickest ending though, you should always go for that extra chapter and kick the Lantern King right up his fiery pumpkin asshole. Lodge a toe up there. It's a shame you can't actually kill him, but the "based on D&D (or some dude's D&D houserules)" video games never seem to let you kill gods or penis extensionsspecial NPCs (Elminster, Drizzle) despite D&D being pretty explicit about that (at least back in the day).
I found that running the place ate a lot of my income in the earlier stages, converting gold to BP to build things up and help get some kingdom stat upgrades, but I still ended up with a few million GP at the end. I don't think I've ever played a D&D-based game where, not including money-making schemes, it doesn't basically work like that.
So overall, it's a fun game for the character optimisation stuff. And the infinite dungeon thing is good for testing those too.

I can't speak to the Kingmaker game, but I do recall that the Kingmaker module we ended up just building like 95% Mints in our city and building aqueducts and farms across every hex so we had infinitely large piles of money bad from our money producing city that did nothing but produce money.

Yeah, the PC game doesn't work like that, sadly.
Also, they've started work on another PF game, I think Wrath of the Righteous? Including "more of everything", "a built-in option for Turn Based" (or as it's better known, The Correct Way), and the epic divine rank thing, I can't remember what it's actually called. I'm pretty neutral about the whole thing as it stands (I think that's the module where a goddess makes you play twenty questions about herself?) but hey, it's a PC game based on (some dude's house rules of) D&D so worth at least keeping an eye on I suppose.

That's the one. I used to defend that one but after some more thought, even if it was less stupid than "10d6 sonic damage no save, defend yourself in any way and get turned into a demon and sent to the Abyss" before the editors got a hold of it, there really isn't any reason for whats-her-bitch to be quizzing you in the first place.Koumei wrote:I think that's the module where a goddess makes you play twenty questions about herself?

You're a pathetic excuse for a human being, you're offensive and insensitive and ignorant, and you seem to willfully choose to be that way. You refuse to change, or to grow, or learn, or just be a better fucking human being. And you what?
You don't deserve to be.
You are exactly what you are supposed to be: a miserable piece of shit; a small and worthless excuse for a man. You always have been and always will be.
I pity you.

A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

I don't have a lot of sympathy. You can avoid being brigaded by Twitter by not being on Twitter. Although I have found lots of anthro MLP dickgirl porn on Twitter, so it's not all bad. I just don't want to interact with those people.
