Isn't the Czech Republic overtaking the Netherlands as the primary destination for sex tourism in Europe? And don't they film like eight million porno films a year there?

Crissa: It's actually the search bubble embedded in firefox as well.

I've already changed the language to english but I can't switch from using google.com.vn as it's default webpage for the search. If you can tell me were to switch it I'd appreciate it, I've already looked at "my account" and "preferences" without success.

I can tell you how to do that. Like all things in open source, people forgot the usability part.

1) See hosw there is a drop down menu arrow next to the G?

2) click that, adn you'll get a list of other search icons with "Manage search engines" at the bottom.

3) You need to click that and then select the "Get more Search Engines" link

4) once there, you need to find the language you want, and you're done.

Thank clthulhu, but while I totally grabbed the wiki search, what I really want is for when I use google, that it is from an english country site rather than the Vietnamese. I didn't see any add-ons that would do that.

Sweet dude, thanks for the help, you are the man and a half.

Now find me a search engine that will only turn up free, high quality, pop up and redirect free porn and I'll start a Cthulhu cult in your honor :D

On the topic (sort of), I am really getting annoyed by the Microsoft Verification thing. This PC came with Windows, Office etc. legally and free - not the install CDs and everything, just with them pre-installed and ready to go. You know, the kind where if you need to reformat then you are fucked*.

And now, out of the blue, I get this annoying little star in my toolbar. And if I open anything in Office (I plan my army lists in Excel), it brings up a message box to tell me I should verify it online. Now, I dislike letting Microsoft spy on me even more than I'm against the government doing the same - I would seriously prefer giving this knowledge to Sovjet agents - but I thought it would be worth it just to make them shut up.

Nope. Apparently it couldn't verify so "might be pirated". Now it didn't deactivate the software because it just can't be sure, but it still has that star in my toolbar (I can remove it via Task Manager, but it just comes back next time I look) and still provides messages telling me I should fork out ~$300 for a validated version of office.

Goddamn it, their business practices are as annoying as your average Russian "Buy our anti-spyware/antivirus" spyware scams - and harder to remove and somehow more legal. At least the Russian spyware you need to actually inflict upon yourself.

I hope someone jams a screwdriver into Bill Gates' scrotum.

*Aside from the fact that everyone knows someone who can score them a burned disc, of course.

Well there is always switching to Sun open office, though if you are going to share your work with people using MS office you need to remember save as a a MS file suffix because MS 2003 won't recognize files with the Sun default suffix. The whole french government flipped Gates the bird why don't you?

Unfortunately, OO.Org has a really shitty interface. Although I was happy to learn how to convert plain text into a table yesterday.

I'm pretty sure Google trends is a load of crap. Check this. No way is Brisbane, Australia top of the world in any search term that generic. There just isn't to population compared to LA in 9th place.

I've been told that the city rankings are percentage based. Otherwise Tokyo and Seoul would dominate all search queries because they have more users than any other cities.

So the end result is that Seoul is actually on the bottom of all search trends, because people are searching in five different alphabets, so every specific entry makes up a very small piece of the search engine pie for that city.

Google says they're normalised but I gather that its not a simple number of people divisor. From here "search for so many other topics unrelated to haircuts, that searches for haircut comprise a small portion of the search volume from New York as compared to other regions"

Its hard to tell exactly what the rank means without knowing the methodology.
