Maybe you are right, but I honestly have no idea how you are getting that from what Avoraciopoctules said.

The reference to a Dragon base class is I admit straight out of my ass - nothing Avoraciopoctules said invalidates the idea that (e.g.) a minimum level 12 Dragon needs to be a Dragon 12 instead of a Fighter 2/Barbarian 4/Monk 2/Knight 2/Cock Hurler 2. But I'm not seeing where you got "level adjustment" from "you must be this tall to be this race".

Okay, I see where you are coming from, but if that is what Avoraciopoctules meant I'm completely at a loss to explain how it answers the original question:
...You Lost Me wrote:how do you make both dragon and half-dragon appropriate power sources for a character without diluting the feeling of dragons. It feels weird if I'm just as powerful as a half-X than I am as an X of any kind.

If you're a Half-Dragon 6/Cock Hurler 6, then no more than half of your powers approximately speaking are coming from being Half-Dragon. Probably less given how levels scale. Certainly less than the power a Dragon 12 is getting from being a dragon.

I'm surprised it didn't make it into this already made class.

Or this conceptually overlapping one.
I can't tell if this justifies my decision to largely ignore IMOI, or serves as a depressing reminder of all the cocks I've been missing out on.

Also, someone broke the thread.

Okay, if we want to go into specifics, let's look at a hypothetical duo of a dragon and a half-dragon, taking some inspiration from Kaelik's post.

Drakul is a level 10 dragon. He has giant piles of hit points, he has several formidable fire-based special attacks, he can fly around super-fast, and he can turn into a human form that retains most of his special abilities. In addition, Drakul gains bonuses from keeping his personal wealth in a huge heap and sleeping on it. With a big enough horde, Drakul has access to useful but not overwhelmingly powerful spells.

Ryu is a level 10 half-dragon. At level 4, he had to decide what he was going to do with his life. He could have been a dragonfire adept, a dragonshifter, a more generalized sorcerer who had bonuses to particular spells, whatever. For the purposes of this argument, we'll make him a dragonshifter.

Ryu is a dude with a sword, and some okay battlemagic. But his main deal is the fact that he can mix and match dragon templates when he gets serious and transforms into war form, letting him tailor his abilities to the encounter. At level 10, he could turn into a giant dragon turtle with an aura of electricity, a wyvern with several air spells and a nasty poison attack, or a wyrm with water breathing, and regeneration.

Different enough for you?
