I want a d20.

Made out of this.

This is also very damned good. Being a star trek watcher helps, but the sound bites strung together are hilarious.

What's this?

Why, nothing much, other than the fact that Mr Whitman has recorded EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE WAY TO DIE in a ton of Sierra-era games, including:

Space Quest 1-6
Quest for Glory 1-4, including the VGA remake
King's Quest 1-7, but not Mask of Eternity
Laura Bow 1 and 2.
Quest for Camelot

And more!

I mean, really, how can you not enjoy such graphic Space Quest deaths such as:

Warning: Graphic 16-bit Violence.

Lago, that is beyond all awesome.

When I was about 10, I loved the Sierra games. Especially Quest For Glory.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

I think that Quest for Glory 4 proves that, if nothing else, nothing destroys creepiness and nightmare fuel like a well-timed pun.

There are some genuinely frightening elements and plot points in the game, but the snarky voice of John Rhys Davies completely defuses whatever horror you normally would've gotten out of it. Awesome.

Geez. I had every one of those deaths in figuring out the game, too. The first one multiple times because it was a timing puzzle which wasn't clear if you could stop the dripping acid or not...

In the latest (march 15) Erfworld comic, The metal golem that helps Lord Hamster//(...forgot his real name) beat an enemy that charges their line looks like The Comedian from the watchmen comic series.

It's kind of funny. Erfworld is full of little subtle internet and pop-culture references (like a Poo Golem that has the shape of Schlock, from Schlok Mercenary).

And.... those SQ3 deaths.... -_-; I fell over edges and fell into metal shredders so many times.

http://trafficcones.com... Sammi says they must be aligned against Kibo. And on that thought, she'll never be able to be permanent friends with Frank, for he's orange. Like a traffic cone. For which Kibo is afraid.

PS - you'll have to know about the dread depths of the internet to get this, I'm guessing.

We Chose the Moon is pretty awesome. It's a virtual real-time replay of the first moon landing, 40 years (to the minute) after it happened. In one hour is the module separation for landing...

Scientific American details an academic who is researching the definition of evil. I doubt he'll come up with Frank's version, somehow.

Fascinating. The best class I've ever taken anywhere was Evergreen's course on Evil. It was a combination of psychology and the philisophy and was absolutely awesome.

I would like to point out that the person is a department chairperson from my Alma Mata (RPI).

I like the end where they are worried about introducing “E” into second life. We need to worry more about real evil people in the world; we can deal with artificial evil people in the same way. It’s the evil self sentient artificial people we need to worry about.

RAIR design criteria wrote:To be truly evil, someone must have sought to do harm by planning to commit some morally wrong action with no prompting from others
What a waste of time. The only way for your actions to be uninfluenced by others is to not have any social or even physical contact with others. And at that point, I don't think anything you do is morally relevant. Let alone morally wrong.

It's a priori fail. Their working definitions are incoherent, and nothing they produce is going to have any real value.

Well, I think they mean without direct prompting.

There's all kinds of influences, but I have seen people talk other people into doing shit.

I'm going to save Dr. Bringsjord a whole fuck tonne of work. Here's his final and "most important" criteria for determining evil:
Bringsjord wrote:if this evil person were willing to analyze his or her reasons for wanting to commit this morally wrong action, these reasons would either prove to be incoherent, or they would reveal that the evil person knew he or she was doing something wrong and regarded the harm caused as a good thing.
People are "evil" if they have "goals" that are "different" from "yours."
:bored:

Waste. Of. Time. Yes, if a dude cuts in line in front of you because he regards fobbing his wait time off on you as a god thing, he is evil. If a guy paints his house a color you don't like, he is evil too. Schadenfreude? Evil! Dirty jokes? Evil!

It's a completely fruitless direction. If you don't nail down what you consider unacceptable actions and goals, you're never going to be able to define Evil by actions and goals. And if you have nailed down unacceptable actions and goals, you already have defined Evil. That is what having unacceptable goals means.

If he's really that evil, I approve of unleashing him onto SL to troll them with his malice. Maybe they'll find the perfect solution to this incredible evil, and that can be used in the real world.

Wait, real life doesn't have an /ignore function.

Not that he could be more destructive than the flying cock blitz or the "Let's create giant floating objects that spawn noises and also spawn more of themselves!" and other ED weapons.

Wowza. Is there any culture zanier than the Japanese? I don't even care for Gundam or that genre but that is still some admirable devotion to entertainment.

This site tracks donations made to politicians compared to what bill was being voted on at the time and how they voted. Its not loading for me at the moment but it seems like just the sort of thing that would interest you guys.
