Things you know with no background check at all:

The city of Teotihuacan is the largest city in the world. You can go in any direction and never get to a larger one. Further, Teotihuacan is fairly close to the center of the world both culturally and physically.

The jungles are filled with evil things like witches, poisonous snakes, trees with burning sap, and jaguars.

The Olmecs had a great empire to the east some time in the past, and they built giant heads out of rocks. The survivors in that region are generally pretty small, so either they were punished for hubris or they were compensating for something.

The closer to the city center you get, the more the buildings are made out of concrete and the less they are made of mud and straw. The shantytown where the poor folks live extends for miles in all directions from the city proper - and at the center is the great plaza which houses the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon. These are very large:

The priests pray the sun up every morning. If a tree falls in the forest and noone is around to remember it, that's a great tragedy.

The word for "god" also means "mouth". The gods live off of eating tragedy and suffering. If it isn't raining enough, you should pinch children in order to feed Tlaloc so that he'll get his butt in gear and send the rains.

The gods live underground, and fairly nearby. You can tell because if you go far enough in any direction it gets colder.

Death in battle or in childbirth is nobler and just generally better than death in some other way. Priests can consecrate your death via sacrificing you in order to make your death cool. Therefore, it is meanspirited to allow those you cut down in battle to slink off and die of their wounds. You should either kill them right there on the field of battle or carry them to a temple where their death can be arranged properly. Mortally wounding a man and then leaving them to die without ritual is something that Jaguars and villains do.

:bump:

So, have we had any offers to co-DM? If not, I'm offering (despite my aforementioned limited ability to get online), because this beast has been sitting still for too long. How do we get it growling?
