Why do people prefer big stats, even if the big stat doesn't really affect the game more than the less countable one?
For instance, I selected an effect which negates 2% of attacks. These seems like a good idea to me.
But apparently a tiny bonus - something which is less than 2% of the incoming damage - is better because it's a larger number.
Why is that? What's the fascination with specializing effects when it really works against you - like in WoW where the only stacked effect which really matters is damage mitigation/aggro creation on the 'tanks'. - because once you lose your specialist units, the group cannot adapt as well?

Can you be more specific?
Re: Why do people prefer big stats, even if...
I dunno, people who make the combat specialist, then complain that they can't use their one schtick even though they were given the chance to have more than one schtick?

Well, here's an example:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa ... ost1020240
This person prefers a bonus to a stat, because it gets another bonus - 10% of 30 is 6, so 30+6=36 - even though it numerically has no impact on the spells cast.
In fact, the only bonus from Int to healing spells is that more int == more mana (more spells). IE, 360 mana, which is one spell (the smallest): Rejuvenation.
The +Healing, on the other hand, makes the Rejuvenation Bigger. So instead of being able to cast 11 Rejuvenations, you can cast 10, and every one of them will just plain be bigger. (Admittedly, the amount 'bigger' isn't as large as a single more spell; however, you can't stack these up, they have to work in serial on each target)
