It's by far my favorite setting ever.
Anything more specific you'd like to know?

The mechanics are a maddening mix of good and utter shite. The setting is a maddening mix of cool and horrible gaping hole. The game is in desperate need of a second edition.
Re: 7th Sea
Cool setting, cool mechanics. I assume you're referring to the "roll-&-keep" system, not that d20 abomination, yes?
7th Sea is a blast...probably my favorite system/setting for swashbuckling adventure. Princess Bride, Pirates o/t Caribbean, The Musketeer...this is the system to simulate those.

Hm. Roll and keep, you say. I'll look into this.

Did they fix any of the magic systems? Some of them were cool, but I recall that at very least nordic Rune Magic was complete trash.

Don't bother trying to impress gamers. They're too busy trying to impress you to care.

No. Nothing has been updated. If you want to shapeshift without spending XP, you still have to house-rule it; and if you want to use the fire magic, you still have to make up your own rules for fire.
