Well, congratulations to Frank for his victory. Man didn't come in absolute last, which I think is pretty good for my first multiplayer game.

The last really major fight I was in was the battles around Atlantis. Cleaning up the rest of the Northern Sea was just that: cleanup. I jumped the end of the game by two turns by grabbing Ctis. But it wasn't much in doubt, I had the army that had triumphed in the Atlantis campaign around a literally empty Rlyehan VP in the north as well.

When I added up how many turns it was going to take to take the last VP, I simply short circuited it by having my diseased army from the Ctisian border leave off sieging the last Rlyehan land castle and run for the Ctisian VP. If Rlyeh had come out to fight and chase, I would have turned around for one more climactic battle - but since they stayed inside I pressed on and grabbed the victory.
