Tome material aviailable in german

Post by Benjamin »

Hi. I'm new to the den.

I registered to let you know I plan to translate some of this awesome stuff you guys ctreated into german for use in my group and plan to publish it on my blog. I will always add links to the original material here and mention the authors name.

Also I will post here when I got new stuff up.

First will be the classes my players chose: Barbarian, Monk and Witch.

In case you have concerns or question ... go ahead.

Yes, it's really that bad. I'm glad you like it enough to translate it into another language.

Sweet. If nothing else, it would be a fun read for brushing up mine as well. It looks like my German is about as good as Frank's.

I'm pretty sure The Den would be more partial to the Black Speech...

My Blog. I've no Tome stuff postet yet. Maybe I'll blog the barbarian this weekend.

Frank, K, I noticed this:
Fatal Strike (Su): A Monk has a natural weapon Slam in addition to whatever else he is capable of doing. As a natural slam attack, if he uses no other natural or manufactured weapons he adds his Strength and a half to damage and may make iterative attacks if he has sufficient BAB. (...)
I was like wtf. Maybe you or whoever does the wikis and pdf add a "modifier" here. :)

Pretty sure that's intentional so the Monk can do appropriate damage without a power glove.

Pretty sure it isn't.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

It's not, the next part mentions the modifier. I just stopped reading after I wtfed. I could had spared me some time reading on ...

The key is actually the "and a half" part. He's doing damage like a two handed weapon. Yes, it means "modifier", but that's fairly assumed.

Benjamin, I started to translate some of the Tomes into German a while ago... I have most of Tome of Necromancy and maybe half of Races of War done, but I did only the text and no mechanics. If you're interested, PM me :)

Looks wicked. Also, I like the Barbarian art there. Very old-school.

Gute Idee!

@Aharon: Yeah, same here.
I started playing D&D with the online SRD only and never held any translated books in my hand. And, besides the problem of not all supplements being translated into German back in the days, prices are ridiculous. A used german PHB costs at least something between 60 and 80 Euros on Ebay... thank you very much.

Then we had this bizarre legal situation for years where you weren't allowed to translate your own german SRD and make it public.I think this is now different with this Pathfinder OGL project where some guys from Ulisses released this wiki full of translated vocabulary, but I'm not sure.

Like I said, my players are no good in english at all.
Plus I can grasp the rules much better when I deal with them this way.
Plus I have fun doing it.
Plus I like to spread some awesome thoughts regarding rpg. =)

Next to come: The monk. I already found awesome graphics.
