The Spelljammer Krynnspace supplement explicitly calls it out as such:
The most beautiful planet in the sphere is Krynn, which also boasts the largest population and seems to be forever in the gods' plans. In fact, sages and clerics within the sphere believe tbat godly actions resulted in a recent-history meteor strike that destroyed many of the planet's civilizations. The clerics were deprived of their spellcasting ability for a considerable time after the strike, which confirms the theory.

People who believe in god claim that tragedy is proof that god exists. Where have I heard that before?Woot wrote:The Spelljammer Krynnspace supplement explicitly calls it out as such:
I don't think an in-universe source can be taken as a 100% reliable narrator in these cases. It's only natural that religious institutions would claim that whatever events happened they PROVE that their theory on the nature of divine is correct. That is, if real life is any guide.
