Look at the urns, and the stamina restoring steps are a bit odd.

Vote registered, Ben Richards will look inside the urns.

The first urn is empty, as is the second, but the third one contains a purple cloak. Will you:

Put on the cloak? Turn to 53
Look in the fourth and fifth urns? Turn to 147
Leave the urns and walk on? Turn to 69

I also have a special request to ask of this community involving a future book that I could possibly run: Does anyone have a copy of Crypt of the Sorcerer (Book #26)?

I am considering selecting it as the subject of my next Let’s Play, but I am having trouble finding a complete copy, as no library near me has it in stock in either a physical or ebook format. I am unfortunately not in a position to buy a copy right now, and any publicly available copy online has sections 14-17 missing. If there is anyone who has a copy and is either willing to show me the sections in question at least (as well as any accompanying pictures), then I would be willing to run the book.

For the record, Crypt of the Sorcerer is the book where having cheatmax stats and making all the optimal choices means you only lose 99.5% of the time. That's not a book where your decisions matter, and I don't know why anyone would bother with it.

I am aware of the book's infamous difficulty, and I am planning to make quite a few major edits in order to make the adventure remotely fair, if I get the missing sections.

Since nobody voted, I will have Ben Richards put on the cloak.

53
The cloak is made of a special material which has fire-resistant properties. Add 1 LUCK point. If you now wish to look in the fourth and fifth urns, turn to 147. If you would rater walk on, turn to 69.

Looking in the fourth and fifth urns is so specific that I feel like it’s bound to be useful.

Sorry for the delay, I got caught in a lot of IRL stuff today. I have registered the sole vote to have Ben Richards look in the fourth and fifth urns.

147
The fourth urn is empty and the fifth urn is half-filled with dried flowers and grasses. If you wish to empty the urn out on to the floor, turn to 241. If you would rather walk on, turn to 69.

I guess the question is whether the urn has treasure or something nasty hidden in the dried grass. I think since we already found one good thing here the other is likely to be bad, so leave it alone.

Good point. I agree with leaving it alone.

Votes registered, Ben Richards will walk on.

69
Twenty metres further along, you come to another door. The door is painted black and has a large brass ring as a handle. If you wish to open the door, turn to 182. If you would rather keep on walking, turn to 109.

Please make your votes before 6:00 PM PDT to guarantee that it will be counted.

Sorry for the delay, work was extremely horrible today. I have registered your votes to have Ben Richards open the door.

182
Image
The room is empty except for a large bronze statue of a six-armed woman, dressed in decorative silk and mounted on a marble plinth. The idol is holding a brass lamp in one hand, and a curved sword in each of its other hands. White smoke drifts up from four silver pipes placed around the idol. If you wish to take the lamp, turn to 311. If you would rather keep walking along the tunnel, turn to 109.

This book came out (googles) 13 years after the Ray Harryhausen film, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, and I know Harryhausen directly influenced other FF (and other franchises such as Dragon Warriors) so the statue is going to attack us, though I don't know how bad it'll be or what loot it'll have.

Half vote for leaving alone.

I feel like there's a clue here (brass ring on the door, brass lamp), so I'd like to take the lamp.

Yeah, we're definitely going to have to fight the statue, but I think the loot we get from the fight will be useful.

Votes counted, Ben Richards will take the lamp, since that option won by a 2-0.5 vote.

311
As soon as you touch the lamp, the idol jerks into life. It steps down from its marble plinth and walks towards you, cutting its swords through the air.

IDOL SKILL 9 STAMINA 6

If you are armed with a magic sword, it will be possible to slay the idol. If you win, turn to 262. If you are armed with an ordinary sword, turn to 55.

Ben Richards is armed with a magic broadsword.

The fight:
Round 1: Idol Attack Strength: 17, Player Attack Strength: 11;
Idol Stamina: 6, Player Stamina: 17
Round 2: Idol Attack Strength: 17, Player Attack Strength: 16;
Idol Stamina: 6, Player Stamina: 15
Round 3: Idol Attack Strength: 16, Player Attack Strength: 16;
Idol Stamina: 6, Player Stamina: 15
Round 4: Idol Attack Strength: 16, Player Attack Strength: 13;
Idol Stamina: 6, Player Stamina: 13
Round 5: Idol Attack Strength: 14, Player Attack Strength: 17;
Idol Stamina: 4, Player Stamina: 13
Round 6: Idol Attack Strength: 15, Player Attack Strength: 17;
Idol Stamina: 2, Player Stamina: 13
Round 7: Idol Attack Strength: 19, Player Attack Strength: 16;
Idol Stamina: 2, Player Stamina: 11
Round 8: Idol Attack Strength: 16, Player Attack Strength: 18;
Idol Stamina: 0, Player Stamina: 11
Due to Ben Richards’ weakened Skill, he loses 8 Stamina before he destroys the idol.

262
Once again you pick up the lamp. Hoping for something wondrous to happen, you rub it vigorously. Nothing happens, but you hear something rattle inside. You take off the lid and find a gold ring inside. You drop it in your pouch, leave the room, and walk on along the tunnel. Turn to 109.

109
The tunnel eventually ends at a T-junction. Looking right, you can see a bright glow in the distance, and looking left, you see that the tunnel ends at a door. If you wish to talk towards the bright glow, turn to 143. If you would rather open the door to your left, turn to 386.

143
Image
The tunnel ends at an archway which is mounted with dragons’ heads made of iron. Flames shoot out of their mouths continuously, making a wall of fire across the archway. If you wish to run quickly through the archway, turn to 370. If you would rather walk back down the tunnel to open the door past the T-junction, turn to 386.
