On the one hand, we are not very ferocious now. On the other hand, we alone of FF gamebook protagonists have a ferocity stat, meaning we're still more ferocious than the Creature of Havoc.

"Meng Zhidao" literally translates to "dream guide", although the phrase "zhidao" is actually used more as a verb to describe action (of guiding) instead of a noun that would be appropriate for a name/role.

And go left. We're still medieval China era with a fascist-style monarchy, so we need to take the other extreme path to maintain the Balance.

In the middle of the room stands a tall, dark shape: a figure etched permanently in your memory, its demon mask mocking you. Beside you Meng gestures urgently. I'm guessing since this sounds like the nightmare version of the guy who killed our dad (and the whole "dream guide" thing that SGamerz pointed out) that the answer is "my mind."

Leave. We've already attained inner peace, so we aren't likely to learn much more from staying at the monastery.

(Having failed the test, we'd probably already missed something vital to winning the game. But we only get 1 reboot, so it makes no sense to give up the quest now. Might as well continue and see/note down what other ways we may possibly fail later.)

Huh, I’m curious if we lost by giving the wrong item to our dad, choosing the wrong door or choosing the wrong answer (or some combination thereof). And I hope this doesn’t guarantee automatic failure later on.
