Is there a limit to how much you can turn into holy water? I am now imagining trying to lure vampires into a backyard with a prepared swimming pool or to a fountain or something . . And eh, if all else fails, there's always Water-Balloons, breakable bottles and super soakers ._. No, go away, screw ...

The Terran Hegemony IS the condominimum, and the tech level of the inner sphere, where tech level is slowly moving backwards because of constant warfare is the same asthetic as found in things like "falkenburg's legion" and "the mote in gods eye". I guess my bigger point was tha...

So what makes GURPS work as a modular game, what's the core mechanic that's kept and what bout it makes it worth keeping To a degree, it is modular, but there are some caveats. Effectively, Gurps is point-based. Every power has a points cost, and every character can be summarized as a point total. ...

Instead of turning Asians into whites, the secret-conspiracy is actually turning Zionists into (apparent) Koreans. Almost brilliant enough to throw us off the scent. And the technology for updating your appearance requires recombinant DNA which is exactly what the Wuhan lab was working on. COVID-19...

I've been binging Money Heist on Netflix. It's a Spanish series about a group "robbing" the Spanish mint (actually they break in and hijack the printers to make 2.4 billion unmarked euros) in the first two seasons and then break into the Spanish National Bank in seasons 3 and 4 to steal t...

I touched on this with the Monster Prestige Classes project, but going through NWN2 again and I really have to ask: why are so many monsters "Bad Dog"? I did some quick research and discovered all dogs are good dogs , and yet D&D puts it to you that there are many dogs out there that ...

Thanks for posting that Trekkie review. It's good to know that the show now fondly remembered for airing the first interracial kiss originally got hate for its tokenism and stereotyping. It wasn't really great for women, and Rick Berman isn't known for being a good person or writer. But it did go f...

Remember when the Star Trek man had a TV show about urban legends? Most people don't.

Anyway, he sounds hilariously intoxicated when his voice is slowed down.

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear. Americans are remarkably complacent when it comes to dealing with bad treatment. Paying $2.13 for a tipped wage. Lack of basic health care. Undermining unions and forcing people into the gig economy. That doesn't touch repealing EPA protections. Or the erosion of voting r...

It probably has a lot to do with the Netherlands historical connection to Japan. Doesn't the Japanese word for western science literally translate as "Dutch learning?" Samurai Champloo had a lot of weird "the Dutch are great" stuff too. I can see it being a cultural thing that h...

Is there a good way of mixing up tech levels in the same game, either using the same rules for different tech levels fighting peers, or fighting against radically different tech levels but keeping things balanced? Probably not. On one end, you have Civilization battles where some veteran cavemen wi...

Decent-looking block grater, but those rubber parts at the bottom just get in the way when you're using them for a whole block of cheese.

I'd buy that one if I didn't already have a block grater.

I think Stellaris, like most Paradox games, is good at piling on a lot of insignificant modifiers, so it appears as though if you know what you're doing, those will add up to something worthwhile. I am guessing the people who are actually good at the game are skilled at larger-scale things and a han...

I think the high-level NPCs were somewhere between 11 and 15, in AD&D, so not really. Then again, you can send pretty much anyone to go fight in the blood war or whatever, and give them a good challenge.

Around here, I would consider that a very important job, frustrating though it may be. Because - at least, here - the answer is no. But if you give people a definitive no, then they will disobey the restrictions because there's no penalty. But you can't say yes authoritatively because it's not true...
