Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)
At a guess (informed by experience outside America) the person responsible for checking social media might report to the comms director, or at least works with some of their staff. That person either didn't want to piss off a future boss or didn't have enough heft to push back against the people say...

Re: Workers at Paizo unionize
Paizo put out a promise to do better.
The union is negotiating.
Sean K Reynolds backed up some of the claims which started this.

Re: Horrible evil corrupt Cuomo might finally face consequences
There's a disturbing number of people online who think that Cuomo is obviously innocent of anything significant and that any suggestion to the contrary is proof that the suggester is an idiot and/or evil. I don't know whether that's people thinking Cuomo is their guy, or whether it's about a backlas...

Re: Hopping Mad about Language Skills!
Saying that there are no languages other than English (or exactly one local stand-in) hammers my friends belief in the world. Trying to elide the problem one way or another is probably less damaging to that belief. In the current game I'm running there's sleep-teaching before most missions to avoid ...

Re: Monte Cook's The Darkest House
Is there anything in the PDF which you could steal for other games or is it all too locked to this particular system? I get that Monte wants you to convert your games to his, but I neither care about that nor think this system looks amazingly good.

Re: Does anyone play Pathfinder 2E?
Paizo seems happy with their sales. Genuinely I think. But you seldom see PF2 fans online and any place you can measure actual players says they're rare. I think Paizo's created a system which is well liked by people who spend serious money on games (on Paizos' at least), but much less by casual pla...

Re: Zak Smith is Accused of Abuse
FWIW Zak's attempt to sue GenCon has been dismissed. The hearing took 49 minutes all up which suggests he didn't have much of a leg to stand on and that the judge saw that.

Will'o'wisps weren't much of a problem the first time we met them because I was playing a sorcerer with glitterdust. Blind=lose dex bonus=shattered wisps. By the next time we'd picked up communal resist energy and they were a joke. The trolls and some dragony thing called a peluda met as a random e...

Competent charismatic (to a limited group) authoritarians don't necessarily win out over the nutters, brown-nosers, time-servers and hacks though. If the GOP establishment had had the choice they might have anointed Jeb Bush the candidate over Trump for the 2016 election and from what I remember he ...

What could Biden do with executive orders alone about Covid-19 within 6 months? I mean, short of McConnell having a coronary there's no getting anything meaningful thru the senate in that timeframe, and in a longer timeframe getting vaccines out to everyone is the big deal. I'm not sure how long it ...

I don't remember ever being in a situation where rolling a 1 meant game over. You just don't take 40 000 gp out of the kingdom treasury at once. Though frankly we wanted a nice shiny kingdom and were putting more money in than out anyway. Will'o'wisps weren't much of a problem the first time we met ...

When we played (face-to-face) it the idea of fighting this stag lord early was brought up and rapidly shouted down. We kept doing side quests until we thought we might be able to take on a crappy fortress and it worked. The game sank during Rivers Run Red because half the party didn't want to engage...

And now a company I know less about has filed a similar suit against Wizards. Gale Force 9 sues WotC . Since there isn't creepy and/or religious baggage here but Wizards is doing the same thing, that implies to me that creepy and/or religious baggage wasn't their reason for backing out of the Dragon...

After politics? Trump's spent four years surrounded by the finest yes-men in the USA. Falling back to something like his earlier plans and mostly dropping out of politics may be emotionally difficult for him. I expect him to push hard for himself or one of his family to contest the presidency in 202...

I've seen people justify the WotF as keeping out something terrible (the Far Realm?), so terrible deeds are justified to keep it in place. Which for the record is not a position I think is defensible. As to why it was put into the canon of the Forgotten Realms - the inside of some writers heads are ...

Weis & Hickman sue Wizards of the Coast
Filing for trial here . There's a fair bit to unpack in that. Weis & Hickman think love potions are a fine subplot, Dragonlance must now be too dead to resurrect as of this filing, Wizards has some extraordinarily creepy people working for them. Is there anything else interesting there that stri...
