At least you are getting somewhere
Welcome, to IronHell.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Didn't we already make that joke in Ends of the Matrix?
Anyway, happy belated birthday, Den! Go suck a barrel of dik-diks.

First off, tgd's 15th birthday us coming up! We should have us a quinceañera.
Secondly, I really didn't know where to post this, none of the existing threads in AtGD seemed right but that did seem like the right forum to put it in, and anyway I didn't think it was worth making its own topic mainly just because it was a random thought I had upon interacting with some other forums.
Now, I have something Frank said years ago in my signature; obviously I put it in there and kept in there for years because I loved it. I still think it has merit and truth many years later, although I do recognize that the main reason the sentiment appeals to me is how much I despise the goddamn bullshit fake politeness at say, RPG.net.

The NOVEL thought that I had (and believe me, I'm NOT suggesting this approach for the Den, just that I do believe it works on some forums) is strictly enforcing EXTREME politeness and cordiality, resulting in an environment where everyone is nice, friendly, and helpful, but where it's still possible to get shit done. Citations to come later if possible....FrankTrollman wrote:One of the reasons we can say insightful things about stuff is that we don't have to pretend to be nice to people. For a minute, I used to be "a guy" in the TTRPG "industry". Now I'm just a nobody. For the most part, it's a relief.
