EDIT: OK I'm looking at it right now, and it seems to be fairly well thought out. This is going to be the one true book to rule the PF optimization forums. Seriously, you could make the most boss wizard race ever with 10 points. See if you guys can top this. We start by going for the +4 int, -2 str...

I wouldn't classify [Munchausen] as a tabletop RPG. Why? As for Souran's question, I do mean the latter. How important is tactical depth in your minigame, presuming a cooperative storytelling game that includes a minigame of some kind? Last time I talked about tactical depth, I was looking into min...

1: It is glossed over the same way the three day trek to the tower or the month of sea travel is glossed over. You don't sit at the table having to declare each and every gold tablet you crowbar off the wall. You definitely don't go over each and every trip back and forth behind the half buried dun...

I'm going to go point by point: 1: It is not a result of WBL done poorly. If there is a way to screw over wealth by level people WILL do it. That's the whole point of Greyhawking. To get MORE gold then WBL would let you have so you can jump ahead in effectiveness. If you allow wealth to accrue powe...

Re: Step 1: Profit, Step 2: ???
I personally let my "want" for an army or fortress depend on my character and what I perceive his wants are. There may be some people that simply stop caring about accumulating gold once you make it not affect the effectiveness of a character in terms of how he/she performs on a given adv...

For what it's worth, Exalted handles this fairly elegantly. Equipping items requires commiting motes which means you can't use them to power abilities. It still means everyone wants a fair amount of magic items, but not to the extend that you hunt for more stacking bonus types. Incarnum did somethi...

On another read, I guess what I should promote isn't that carrying the sword counts as slot occupation, it's that empty-handed techniques can and should exist so that the sword has a valid player ability that it's displacing. But the first thing I thought of was that there doesn't have to be bother...

Re: Knapsack Problems
Inventory management is a common question. Should it be largely left to fiat? I don't know of any circumstance where a player, in any game, has the thought "my play experience was markedly improved by that inventory limit." Regardless of whether a player consciously thought that, it's sti...

@Halcyon: You called it right and I was just going to ignore PL's rant since he started saying things I did not. However if you disagree with my response I'd like to know what you find amiss. I think what PL was getting at was that if gold can buy an army at 10th level then gold can buy an army at ...

For slot requirements, I never decided on multiple or singular. I guess singular would be easier. ToB has no scaling and effectively requires multiple slots for similar maneuvers if you want versatility, so I would at least want better than that... yet the solution leads to word-bloat. About making...

Wait, so now it's CharOp bullshit to refluff your character? Fuck you. It's CharOp bullshit because I've never seen anyone even attempt to refluff either half of the problem. But if they did, that'd be fine, because, like I said, the ability is actually pretty mediocre from a mechanical standpoint....

The problem with it is that the Con damage is supposed to be a cost , so if the Stronheart Vest prevents the damage, then the cost never gets paid . Yeah, it's totally allowed , but any MC that gives even the slightest fuck about RAI would never allow it, so it's typical CharOp bullshit. Paying a f...

What about the stuff like a Monk's daily uses of Stunning Fist? It can be used X/day, but there's nothing listed on what they have to do or not do to get the uses back. There are a fuck tonne of classes and creatures with daily use limits on their powers like that. Yeah, that would definitely apply...

4e has numerous triggered abilities that could be thought of as Event-based. A Reaction can be used only when you're attacked with a melee attack or only when an enemy leaves your threatened area, for example. That these abilities often are also on charge-restrictions is simply an example of 4e bei...
