Re: Basic mechanics design.

At that point, pick a number and roll a percent die based on your class. Everyone has the same to-hit, but wizards hit 20% less, so they roll a d100 and if within the 20%, they miss.

Re: Iconic Characters ?

Yeah you can do 32d6 damage with a meteor swarm as your main attack spell. Somehow you are comparing 32d6 damage, an amount that won't even kill most CR 20 challenges, with the ability to automatically destroy every single creature on an entire plane with a weaker spell. [br][br]{sarcasm}[br][br]Ob...

Re: No Com 1s in my world.

In the games I play most often, it's rare to see an NPC class, though there are some NPCs who simply suck hard enough to have to be commoners. Depending on the world, the "average joe" on the street is between 2 - 10 levels.

Well, then... What they need to do is make putting your name in fifty thousand places significant to the results of the exam. They spend a few minutes (rather than four hours) saying "Put your name wherever it asks you to" and if a student can't handle it, they probably won't be able to ha...

So maybe sundering and MDJ should supress the abilities of whatever you're doing them to for a certain number of rounds/minutes/hours/days/whatever instead of destroying them...?

Or maybe sundering breaks something, but you can actually use Make Whole or something on it...?

Re: Feats that scale with level

From what I've seen of Frank's (and other's) builds, the soft cap for 20th level attack bonus is about +40. That means that a person with 51 AC will be hit about half the time. An additional +4 bonus to AC wouldn't really be overkill.

The only major issue I have with the originally proposed feat is that it breaks the rules for a Dodge bonus. Or maybe it re-creates them... If the monkish route must be taken, then I'd probably go with Shou Disciple and substitute SA dice for the bonus feats (page 58 of Unearthed Arcana implies that each die of sneak attack is worth a Fighter's bonus feat).

Re: Poll: Do you play with Vile content?

Flavor: No. The BoVD has nothing on a good DM who knows exactly how to target his players and what will get them moving. They are also largely ass because, in stereotypical fantasy fashion, everything evil is abhorently gross and ugly (unless it polymorphs).

Mechanics: No. They mostly suck.

Re: Race Specialization is the crap

The more I play this game, the more I see no reason for it to be point based. In fact, when Ess asked me what changes a newbie to D&D like me would make to the classes and races, I created a point based system disguised as a class system, and a point based race system - because anything else is ...
