(obligatory fuckyouiwasgoingtopostthis) TRoS does one-on-one duels kinda well if that kind of hyper-realistic stuff is your thing. The Spiritual Attributes thing is an interesting concept, but I'm honestly not sure how it works in practice since I've never done a thing that involved them. On the oth...

Do you guys think there's any way to make bounded accuracy work without making the game incredibly tedious through massive hitpoint bloat? Is the only way of making the fighter function given bounded accuracy is to give her literally thousands of hit points at high levels and give high-level opponen...

I read Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy when I was about twelve (or so I remember) and I just got around to re-reading them. They were almost as good as I remembered them to be. Even so, they're really good. So long as you understand that the books are just as much about Mars as they are about ev...

I don't think Ork Magik is that bad- allowing a caster to base their casting off strength rather than intelligence or what have you isn't too bad, all things considered. The ninth level ability is fucking awful, though: Unless you have a strength of 44 (hint: you won't) you'd be better off not usin...

As a side note, he's given up bragging about his ability to to basic math (The math just works!) and has started complaining about people who do. Hell, even the pre 4e stuff was more solid than the current document. Wait, what the fuck? Is Mearls seriously complaining about people who critique the ...

Chronologically it goes Perdido Street Station, then a few months later comes The Scar, then thirty years later comes Iron Council, but there's very little overlap between the three: the lead character of The Scar is mentioned in Perdido Street Station, but that's it, and there's no overlap between ...

It's all well and good to say that torture is ineffective and doesn't actually work and that we should stop torturing because it doesn't do what people say it does, but that's not actually what's being asked some of these questions. The real question is that if a situation were to arise in which to...

Um, I was under the impression that you spent edge on tests and stuff, so I guess I'll spend it on whatever tests come up? I already factored my edge into the resistance tests, so I'm not sure what you're asking. Also, sorry about the whole combat thing. If you think the face angle is covered by Han...

That's actually really cool, and if we're going with an AS power system, even if we abandon the AS power schedules, it would be really easy to make that a discipline under a tech power source, as that seems like the best way to have a tech-based character. What might be a useful distinction to make ...

Cyberpunk 2020 is getting a new edition
http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/6/12/3080660/cyberpunk-2020-getting-not-just-a-video-game-but-a-new-tabletop-game The decision to turn classic tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020 into a video game comes with a pleasant surprise: A brand new edition of the pen-and-paper game is in development. Speaking ...

I don't have a 3.5 group anymore as literally everyone involved either graduated, transferred, or dropped out in the same year, but people had differing opinions. One guy liked it because it was interesting and made fighters cool and blah blah blah, but another friend of mine disliked it because ToB...
