A few things about the Dresden Files RPG system speak out for Avatar: 1. The mechanics for learning channeling and evocation specializations fit well with Aang learning the elements one by one over the course of the series, but also becoming more powerful with bending in general. 2. The mechanics fo...

DF's Evocation allows for Blocking, Attacking, and Manuvers, which add temporary wound equivalents. The wound equivalents can be something like "can't bend" or "Jesus fucking christ did he just shoot fire out of his forehead?" Sadly, they all do the same thing mechanically ( for...

The Fate RPG mechanics in the new Dresden Files RPG seem well suited to Avatar. I haven't played with them in-game yet, I'm organizing a group now.

Re: The Wish Economy in Eberron

1175545826[/unixtime]]There's a couple of core difficulties involved in Eberron's handling of the high-end economies. The obvious one is Artificers, who have the ability to generate unlimited quantities of items of unlimited power at about level 12 (although with the length of time it takes to actu...

The Wish Economy in Eberron

Is it just me, or does Eberron seem to be designed to handle switching to the wish economy without a problem. Every Dragonmarked House has two businesses, a common one, and an awesome one:[br][br]Cannith:[br]C: Tinkers Guild - They fix pots and pans for common people[br]A: Fabricators Guild - They b...

Re: Soul Binding at an appropriate level

1175496916[/unixtime]][br][br][br]Yes, more than 100 gp but significantly less than 15,000 meaning you can get them in the wish economy. Also thinuan weapons can store a potentially infinite number of souls. [br][br]True, but in this situation, without a thief of souls to extract the soul out of th...

Re: Soul Binding at an appropriate level

The problem with that is thinuan weapons cost significantly more than 100GP. Any group that makes heavy use of thinuan should push the rogue into Thief Of Souls at 7th level (Rogue5/Wiz1/ToS1) to get soul bind as a spell-like ability. [br][br]I'm pretty sure that 7th level is the earliest you can pu...

Soul Binding at an appropriate level

Thought I'd share a house rule I used back when I was running a game making heavy use of Frank and K's work.[br][br]Soul Bind is now a 5th level spell on the Sor/Wiz, Summoner and Cleric lists; and the material component is a gem worth 100GP.[br][br]This means that if you go out of your way and take...

Tome of Necromancy/Book of Fiends exploit

I was running a game last year that used some of these rules, and my players did something that pissed me off. They tried to use lesser planar binding to summon a 6-hd vampire (there is a rule in Frank and K's stuff that lets you call undead, I forget where), to kill it, trap the soul and sell it. T...

Easy, Simple Classes (need cleric architype)

I am running a game where every player who has signed up is like a child. Seriously.[br][br]I need rules that are both easy to explain, and non-broken.[br][br]Right now, I have 4 players. I am allowing them to choose from the options I give. So far, I have allowed a Fire Mage (Frank's version), a Ba...
