I remember a few chagrined comments from VT as to how he was a total asshole a few years ago and now felt really embarrassed about it.
Which is a point in his favour - I can't think of many times I've seen any forumite admit to douchebaggery.

Re: Paradox of Souls
Well questions of the soul, much like questions of god or any other kind of mysticism may well be un-disprovable - but that's because they are not questions at all. [br]Because you cannot ever experimentally test them, (mystical=ineffable) they count for shit as the decaying remains of ancient attem...

Re: Shadowrun
Well, sorta - Ritual Spellcasting is at a (6-man team power level) really really REALLY good at making heads explode - perhaps the room as well - nice and clean like a scalpel. [br]It does scale all the way up to apocalyptic but is effectively out of the PC's grasp (requires something like a whole n...

Shadowrun
Here's one that's pissing me off - Ritual Spellcasting [br][br]NightmareX is convinced of his own divinity and some of the others who have the same view sound like bitter writers, hoping to get the crap they didn't get in the book accepted as truth. [br][br]It makes me glad I'm a SR4 newbie, that I'...

Re: What WotC ruling was the final straw for you?
I think it's been mentioned but Feng Shui is probably your best bet - it was designed to recreate Hong Kong/Hollywood style awesome and probably carries it off better than d20 ever will.[br][br]It's very rules light, looks like everything's about even - a lot of the fun depends upon how well you des...

Re: What WotC ruling was the final straw for you?
1186409127[/unixtime]]A really shitty PrC was posted on the WotC site and mocked here. That soon spilled over into the wizard boards thread where the author was defending it, and in the end our very own NineInchNall[sic] helped design a better version. IIRC it took him forever to convince the desig...

Re: Let's make fun of Sig
It's not just that they aren't formatted - the whole text seems like a big, stupid, stream of consciousness that really needs editing - the Fey class looks like a writeup of the brainstorming for a Fey class.

Re: Shadowrunnfr Min Max
The Illuminati is already represented by the Illuminates Of the New Dawn (Which seem far more likely to try to Awaken mundanes than enslave them)[br]Plus, they never had - historically - that type of agenda (although yes, the issue of what the Illuminati actually did/do/aimed for is really screwy an...

Re: Dungeons and Discourse
I'll agree that it is a Realist philosophy, but wouldn't the insistance that Reason (and the scientific method applied to measurement) is absolute in being the only viable way to learn about reality supersede it's Realist classification? Actually, wouldn't Rationalism fall apart if reality was in an...

Re: Dungeons and Discourse
Looks cool - but I certainly hope Nietzsche isn't the Nihilist rep, he expressed nothing but contempt for them.
I'd put forward Objectivism for one of the Rationalist classes.

Re: Advice for new DM
Tell anyone that wants to play a fighter that they're playing the equivalent of a "combat rules wizard". So, if they don't know the rules of combat, they should play anything but the fighter. [br][br]Yeah, I went over the fighter and barbarian with one of my players and he preferred the b...

Advice for new DM
A friend asked me to DM recently and having read the Tome series I'd been chomping at the bit to do something using it, so I agreed.[br][br]I've basically settled on either the Sunless Citadel or City of the Spider Queen, because my group is not especially RP-intensive. SC would be easiest for me to...

Re: What if Evocation didn't suck?
Well Force is probably the best "earth" elemental energy damage, as it fits best with what "earth" describes - solid things, blades, barriers etc.

Re:
Here's a generator for ya - Take two intelligent corporeal undead attached to each end of a arbitrarily long pole on a plane with subjective gravity, then tell each one to want gravity to be right/left relative to them. I'm not totally positive on what this would do to the objects gravity as subject...
