thanks ISP - I'll look up Malazan Book of the Fallen. Never heard of it :D. And yeah, Pug rarely acts high-level, which is why I tend to call him Milamber in these discussions - because a) that's his Greater Path name initially, and more importantly, b) that name sounds like a wizard. But his capabi...

Also - if you haven't read Feists' Riftwar Trilogy, you only have yourself to blame. That's high-level DnD, right there. True, Milamber doesn't throw down the top-end spells all that often, but definitely has access to them (Time Trap,Gate, etc)[/i]

Okay, so I'm gonna need you to break this one down Whiysper. Because that sounds like some broken cheese and I need to know how you're doing it. Apologies for the late reply - was on a beach without internet :D. Winged Tiefling - racial variant, lose the crappy casting for 30' flight. Blade Pact - ...

Also, most tech jobs want experience rather than certs - certainly for sysadmin stuff, they're only going to care that you have an IT background, a logical approach to problem-solving, and ideally experience in the OS they're running ('Nix, in my experience :D).

Winged Tiefling Hexblade Bowlock. Seriously - you just ignore the map, all the crappy melee-only enemies... and all you lose is some crappy spellcasting :). Feat human is solid gold, but so is always-on un-dispellable flight.

If I were feeling ambitious, I'd OSSR Brave New World. The system is so bad that the author once put in a foreword/afterword somewhere that you should just take the setting and play use Champions instead. And it's a very silly game that takes itself very seriously. Do eeeeettt.... you know you want...

We generally use the internet like everyone else, pray to bump into friends at Uni/college, or look out for groups meeting in pubs - they often advertise :). There's no guidance on system, though, other that 'whatever the club plays'. University GameSocs are basically the big gateway. Sounds like FL...

This is pretty ballin. Is the idea that once you Allocate point to a Discipline, you can activate the power at that level, or at that level and all lower levels, or that you unlock all the powers up to your Allocation and can then spend further points to activate lessers..? Not quite sure. Possible ...

We did actually play 'Phoenix Wright' initiative for one build of our homebrew (slowest acts, anyone higher can interrupt). As Frank notes, it's basically the same as acting first with the option to hold, and we've since switched back to 'DnD 3 style' (act first with the option to hold). They're equ...

At that point I think you're fucked like the Sorcerer with a CHA of 9. Infrequently but embarrassingly? Liking the class so far. Not sure how awkward rage points will be to track, but doesn't look too bad at a glance. may get one tried out. Also, love the names of the save effects. Because I am a g...

Not very. They'll be borderline unkillable through HP damage (Con mod determines breath DCs), and with Entangling Exhalation (feat) or Slow Breath (breath effect, level5) they will shut hordes the fuck down , but they'll still not outshine a semi-competent sorcerer. Edit: and with full BAB, they can...

More feats, more feat picks. 5 minute short rest. Actually fucking write the Exploration and Interaction pillars. But even then, just back-port the good bits of 5e into 3e and don't tell the players. I really can't think of anything good enough in 5e to hold my attention long enough to do the sort o...

I want to say they're Khinerai? But then there's a box on my shelf that needs painting, because Corsair jetpacks are so old-school. Grant ability score increases AS WELL as feats. Do that on character level rather than class level (if you read this as 'give out feats on the 3e schedule', you're probably not doing anything wrong...). Give people Inspiration whenever they do something that improves the game. Don't let people nomin...

Griffon lands to kill you - I'd say Brute if it's hard-hitting and hard-to-kill, Ravager if it lands on you with everything and hopes you die before you have chance to kill it back. Wyvern - typically a brawler, flies down, stings. If it then flies back up to wait for the poison to work, could be a ...

Also, without training in weapons, the movements you use to attack people don't really work with weaponry - lines of attack and grips and such are off by enough that you're basically an amateur at best. Personally, I'd rather fight barehanded! Game-wise, for MA attacks, you either need to use perks ...

at a guess: Harriers are skirmishers - harassing and flanking you, generally mobile, hard to pin down, and dangerous if left alone. Think 3e scout with the Skirmish mechanic. Lurkers are ambush predators - lurking until they get a good chance to attack, and then revealing themselves and screwing up ...

For a diviner, I'd actually take the route of allowing the player to, for example, roll their melee attack and then after seeing the result decide whether that was a trip/disarm/etc or a regular attack - that's the fairest way that has leapt to mind so far of allowing foresight in the short term. Ot...
