Yeah, I only got a three games in. A gold Rush that I was told over and over how good I am (yes I won) and that I'd make a great warrior? Whatever that means. A assault that I lost because I played for broke under the false assumption that a Rogue could use his Assassinate special on the orb. So I ...

Super Ganking Game

Here's an interesting game. Once you play it a little bit, you find out that the strategies of this game are exactly that of D&D: Kill your enemies in one turn by having them be ganged up by your team. http://www.xgenstudios.com/play/bob It's kinda funny, the ultimate strategy involves staying b...

Man, I got tempbanned from WotC's forums for linking to the SA review. Man, that's interesting. Another person could probably get away with it if they worded it differently and did not have your username_handle. This is probably part of the same reason why in this thread that you made http://forums...

I had to respond to this one. The stupidity of the premise demanded a rebuttal.

Edit: Looks like this guy posted it somewhere else and it has more responses there http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=235459

Don't forget the fact that *all smart Rangers* will choose to get Toughness as their bonus feat which means that they start out with more hp than defenders.

Thank you Talisman, your insights are quite helpful. You make a good point about the wolfpack scenario as you call it. Ganking has always been an optimal tactic in games. An option could be to double or more the required number of hits for monsters, but that assumes that every PC will always be atta...

So would it be something like?: Ideal #s Attacks: Hits: Soldier: 6 4 Brute: 6 5 Skirmisher: 6 3 Minion: 3 2 Thus a Soldier is designed to die in 4 hits but on average 6 total attacks will be necessary to kill it (2 out of 6 will miss). Same with the Brute, etc. What do you all think of the numbers? ...

Fundamental Game Assumption: Number of hits til death

It seems likely that the 4e designers have behind the scenes tried to make monsters and players die in a certain number of hits, and I was curious if anyone had done any calculation on this. Further, I'm wondering everyone else's thoughts on how a game should be designed as far as number of hits til...

I'm glad you noticed the same thing I did about knights of unyielding valor. You can trap a medium sized creature with 3 clerics. You could trap 3 medium sized creatures with 3 clerics if they were standing next to each other. Also be sure to mention theWizard Paragon Path Blood Mage which has the P...

I made a post on EN World about minions and I suggested that characters and monsters have scaling hp with level. Say for instance that each level a character's damage goes up by 5 and all monsters hp go up by 5 as well. This might take some tweaking and people might be shocked at hitpoints in the be...

Good find UmaroVI The problem seems to be hitting initially with the bracers. Level 24s seem to be vulnerable, but by level 29, the monsters have a good chance of breaking free. Still this seems more reliable than hoping a saving throw will fail.

I'll list my grievances with 4e that I've seen so far 1. Ask your DM’s permission before worshipping an Evil Deity 2. Good and Unaligned Deities grouped together 3. Half-Elves Suck (again) 4. You can walk or run while prone but can't crawl while walking 5. Took 3.5 32 point buy and chose 10 of those...

Hey Frank, where do classes like the Fighter and Monk fit in the list of bugs? He stated in the 'B' bug description that the imbalance of the Monk is one of them. I suspect that the Fighter is in a similar boat. Ah silly me, didn't see that :? How does one rate a wizard or a cleric then? Their powe...

There's actually a sticky about it. Apparently you guys were distracting Jason from the Great Work. The tone of the playtest boards has taken a decidedly un-Paizo turn in the last month or so and we're locking a few threads and more actively reading these boards now from a moderating standpoint. Se...

Perhaps "most" and "idiots" are too strong of words. Maybe I should say "many" and ......"have flawed reasoning and knowledge" (some better or worse than others).

To add to Frank's point, they've actually changed some of the worst things TGDers were complaining about in Alpha 1.1, like eliminating the requirement that combat feats be used in a particular order. Question for Frank and K regarding Paizo Forum Topics

Dear Frank and K, I'm curious. Why are you two posting and giving suggestions on the Pathfinder forums? Do you feel that Pathfinder will be a better game than 4th edition? Do you feel that the designers will listen to what you both have to say? Do you think that they would make significant changes t...
